Toyota Raize increases price in Vietnam, difficult to compete in sales with competitors

From April 1, 2025, Toyota Vietnam will adjust the selling price of the Toyota Raize model, increasing by 12 million VND compared to the current price.

Accordingly, the Toyota Raize red/black version will cost 510 million VND, the pearl white version will cost 518 million VND, and the two-tone version (black roof) will cost 522 million VND. Although the Toyota Raize has increased its selling price , the equipment on the car remains the same as the current version.

Although the specific reason has not been revealed, it is likely that this price increase comes from input costs. Previously, Toyota also adjusted the price of some other car models such as Land Cruiser increased by 294 million VND with upgraded equipment or Alphard increased by 140-149 million VND, Innova Cross increased by 15 million VND.

From April 1, 2025, Toyota Vietnam will adjust the selling price of the Toyota Raize model, increasing by 12 million VND compared to the current level.

Meanwhile, Raize's competitors such as Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue currently show no signs of price increases, and even receive many incentive programs at dealerships.

Specifically, Kia Sonet is being reduced by about 9 million VND for all versions, bringing the actual selling price down to 530 million VND (listed at 539 million VND). Hyundai Venue version VIN 2024 is also reduced by 15-20 million VND depending on the region.

The Toyota Raize red/black version will cost 510 million VND, the pearl white version is 518 million VND, and the two-tone version (black roof) will cost 522 million VND.

With the price increase of Toyota Raize , this model will have more difficulty competing with its rivals. Previously, the starting price of Raize and Venue were almost the same (498 million and 499 million VND), but after this adjustment, Raize is higher than Venue (510 million compared to 499 million VND).

Although the Kia Sonet has a higher list price than the Raize, the model still leads the A-segment SUV segment using petrol engines, with sales of 421 units in January 2025, compared to 329 units of the Raize.

This is the fourth price adjustment of Toyota Raize since its launch in Vietnam, and not the highest price. In 2022, the car was priced at 527 million VND, increased by 20 million VND the same year, increased by 5 million VND in early 2023 to 552 million VND and decreased by 54 million to 498 million VND in early 2024.

This is the 4th price adjustment of Toyota Raize since its launch in Vietnam.

By the end of 2024, Raize (4,984 total vehicles sold) ranked only above Hyundai Venue (4,465 vehicles sold), below VF 5 (32,000 vehicles sold) and Kia Sonet (7,313 vehicles). Most recently, in January 2025, Sonet sold 421 vehicles and Raize sold 329 vehicles.

With the price increase but no upgrade, Toyota Raize in Vietnam is facing a big challenge when competing in the A-size SUV segment. Consumers will consider whether to accept the higher price of Raize or choose rival models with more attractive prices.
