Ho Chi Minh City launches a movement to plant and protect trees.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued directives on the implementation of the "Tree Planting Festival in memory of President Ho Chi Minh" and the work of protecting green spaces and developing forests in 2025.

Accordingly, regarding the implementation of the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" and tree planting, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned city departments and agencies, the Thu Duc City People's Committee, and the People's Committees of districts and communes to strengthen propaganda efforts and improve the effectiveness of mobilizing the city's people to actively participate in the movement of planting and protecting trees.

Units must develop plans and take the lead in organizing the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday in 2025 and planting trees in their localities and units.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requires that the organization and launch of the "Tree Planting Festival in Eternal Gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh" be practical, effective, and avoid ostentatious displays. The scale, timing, and content of the program must be controlled, creating conditions for the participation of agencies, organizations, associations, schools, armed forces, and all segments of the population. After the launch, proper care and protection of the planted trees and existing planted areas must be carried out to ensure their healthy growth and development.

In addition, the City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to take the lead and coordinate with the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District and relevant agencies and units to develop and submit to the City People's Committee for approval the Plan for organizing the launching ceremony of the "Tree Planting Festival in commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh" in 2025 on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

Regarding the management, development, protection, and fire prevention and control of forests, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, and the districts of Can Gio, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, and Hoc Mon to direct forest management units to implement necessary measures in accordance with regulations on forest fire prevention and control. They are also tasked with reviewing key forest areas at high risk of fire and developing specific fire prevention and control plans.

At the same time, relevant units also need to direct localities with large areas of scattered forest plantations to review key areas and develop specific fire prevention and control plans for each type of managed area.

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has assigned the People's Committee of Can Gio District to direct its subordinate units to implement approved projects for forest care, reforestation, and forest regeneration promotion, ensuring progress and quality.

At the same time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has implemented a comprehensive and effective approach to completing the forest survey task according to the City People's Committee's plan on surveying and determining the current state of forests in the city.
