Mr. Duong Duc Trong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment, stated: As the leading city in the country in many fields, Ho Chi Minh City has prioritized the development of advanced technologies in agriculture in general and agricultural seed production in particular from a very early stage. After a period of implementation, research agencies and units have achieved significant results.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Agriculture and Environment), implementing the Program for the Development of Plant and Animal Breeding and High-Tech Agriculture in Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2020-2030, Ho Chi Minh City has developed and enhanced its research and application capacity in science and technology in plant and animal breeding.
Ho Chi Minh City has also promoted product consumption connections, organized safe agricultural product markets, participated in fairs, exhibitions, and competitions, creating conditions for farmer members, establishments, farms, cooperatives, and businesses in the city's agricultural sector to participate in introducing, promoting, and selling products as well as accessing new technologies in production.
The proportion of agricultural production value using high technology currently accounts for 45% of the city's total agricultural production value. From 2021 to the present, the city has collected 173 plant varieties such as vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, and medicinal plants; selected and bred 14 plant varieties such as vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, and mushrooms; and transferred 18 new plant varieties into production.
Simultaneously, research is being conducted to perfect 12 breeding processes for flowers and ornamental plants, and to apply biotechnology to develop and perfect 7 breeding processes for medicinal plants and mushrooms...

At the conference, experts and scientists presented papers on several plant and animal varieties and high-tech agricultural processes that have been researched, selected, and effectively applied in the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Agricultural Zone; high-yield pig and poultry breeds at the Southern Livestock Research Institute; some current advances in beef cattle farming; the application of biotechnology in breeding; and agricultural production support policies currently being implemented in the city.
To continue the effective implementation of the program for developing plant, animal, and aquatic species in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming period, Mr. Vo Thanh Giau, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, suggested that agencies and units continue to invest in upgrading and building new infrastructure for breeding areas, farms, and high-tech agricultural production according to the plan. He also called for improving research capacity and the application of science and technology in the fields of plant, animal, and aquatic species breeding.
Simultaneously, improve the effectiveness of the agricultural extension network through innovation in the content and methods of training, workshops, and training sessions to provide information, promote, and introduce new varieties and technologies into production. Transfer scientific and technological advancements through effective agricultural extension demonstration models, creating conditions for all economic sectors to develop production and promote trade in high-tech agricultural varieties and products.
