Mr. Nguyen Huu Trong, Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Medical Informatics and Head of the Southern Representative Office, stated that the need for digital transformation in the healthcare sector is currently an urgent requirement.
Based on this reality, the Medical Informatics Association recognizes the need to build an information technology community in the healthcare sector so that units can support each other and develop together.
According to Mr. Trong, digital transformation in healthcare is a very difficult and complex process. The limited budget for investment in healthcare technology makes it difficult for many units to maintain the stability, long-term viability, and sustainability of digital transformation projects.
"Even applications that have already been deployed need to be reviewed to see if they are truly secure," he said.
Mr. Trong cited recent incidents where several hospitals have had their systems infiltrated or been subjected to cyberattacks. Only when such incidents occur do many organizations realize the necessity of having a strong professional community to provide timely mutual support.
Furthermore, the Medical Informatics Association office also wishes to establish a member liaison committee, expanding membership recruitment, not only within the scope of professional work but also aiming for connection in daily life to work together and support each other.
From the perspective of the innovation ecosystem, Ms. Le Thi Be Ba - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Creative Startups - said that the launch of the representative office of the Ho Chi Minh City Medical Informatics Association is an important connection between technology solutions, hospitals, experts, managers, and innovation projects, creating conditions for ideas to be implemented in practice in both the public and private sectors.
"We expect this to be not only a connecting point within the healthcare industry but also a place to jointly build concrete implementation solutions, bringing innovation from ideas to practice," Ms. Bé Ba shared.
