The State Bank of Vietnam stated that the implementation of Project 06 and the digital transformation of the banking sector continue to yield many positive results, particularly in fraud prevention and the development of cashless payments.
A key highlight is that the Payment Fraud Management, Monitoring and Prevention Information System (SIMO) has sent alerts to over 4 million customers about transactions showing signs of risk as of mid-month.
Notably, after receiving the warning, more than 1.3 million customers proactively paused or canceled transactions, thereby preventing a total transaction amount of up to 4.4 trillion VND.
This is seen as clear evidence of the effectiveness of digital transformation in protecting the assets and legitimate rights of citizens, while also contributing to enhancing the safety of the entire banking system.
According to a representative from the State Bank of Vietnam, the legal framework continues to be improved with a series of important documents such as the Law on Anti-Money Laundering, the Law on Credit Institutions, the Decree on Non-Cash Payments, and especially Decree 94 on the controlled testing mechanism (Sandbox) for new financial technologies.
The successful biometric verification of over 163.39 million customer records via chip-embedded citizen identification cards and VNeID is a significant step forward, helping to eliminate fake accounts and create a transparent and fair financial ecosystem.
