On the morning of February 17th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training issued a document regarding extracurricular tutoring in the city.
Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requests that the leaders of all units urgently implement the following:
Firstly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires leaders of units to organize the implementation, dissemination, and promotion of regulations on tutoring (Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training) to officials, civil servants, teachers, staff, students, and parents;
All officials and teachers in the city's education and training sector must strictly adhere to regulations on tutoring and supplementary classes; develop plans for inspection and review; and resolutely prevent any unauthorized tutoring or supplementary classes from occurring inside or outside schools.
Secondly, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requests that all units absolutely not relax the organization of review and tutoring for students whose academic results are below the required level.
"Schools need to organize intensive review sessions for final-year students to prepare for entrance exams and graduation exams according to the school's educational plan."
"It is necessary to identify this as the responsibility of the school to help students meet the required learning outcomes as stipulated in the 2018 General Education Program" - the document states.
In addition, the department also reminded schools to continue implementing comprehensive solutions to ensure the quality of the 2018 General Education Program.
Regular and periodic tests and assessments must be consistent with the 2018 General Education Program and should not put pressure on students to take extra classes.
To promptly identify, address, and propose appropriate solutions to difficulties and obstacles encountered during the implementation of the Ministry of Education and Training's circular on supplementary teaching.
Absolutely no extra tutoring for elementary school students.
Specifically for the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City and districts/wards, the department notes that it is necessary to focus on thoroughly explaining to primary schools that absolutely no extra tutoring should be organized for primary school students;
Direct schools to adjust and develop plans for implementing the two-session-per-day program in accordance with the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program;
Strengthen and supplement club activities, talent development activities (art, sports, etc.), and life skills training, ensuring they are appropriate to local characteristics and the time available for parents to drop off and pick up their children;
Take appropriate action or report to the competent authorities regarding violations of regulations on tutoring and supplementary classes in the area;…
