On the afternoon of June 10, a working delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc inspected preparations for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam in Ho Chi Minh City.

Before working with the Ho Chi Minh City Examination Steering Committee, the delegation inspected the preparation of facilities and staff arrangement at the exam printing and copying locations and some exam locations in the city.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the 2024 High School Graduation Exam in the City has 90,062 candidates, of which 5,785 are independent candidates.

The whole city has 13,076 candidates exempted from the Foreign Language exam; 87 candidates exempted from all exams in the High School Graduation Exam. The city organized 162 exam sites, of which 87 exam sites have independent candidates; mobilized 11,796 exam supervisors, nearly 3,300 officers and employees to do exam work and serve the exam sites.

The City always upholds the sense of responsibility in all stages, from preparation to organization of the exam, with the close coordination of many forces and departments. In particular, the City focuses on enhancing the dissemination of exam regulations to candidates, invigilators, and parents to implement and accompany. As for the transportation of exam papers, the City will transport exam papers and test papers every day at the beginning and end of the day.

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the city has made careful preparations for the upcoming exam. The Department of Education and Training, departments, branches and sectors continue to closely coordinate to ensure absolute safety for the exam. Along with that, issues of health, food safety, and psychological support for candidates at the exam sites are focused on to create the best conditions for them.

The city also considers plans to handle unusual situations. Departments, branches and sectors develop preparation and backup plans to ensure timely and quick handling of unusual weather situations, network information security, issues related to exam questions, exam supervision, exam grading, etc.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said that as a locality with the largest number of candidates taking the exam in the country; especially, with the characteristics of a densely populated area that can cause complicated problems, the City needs to proactively prepare the best conditions for the exam, especially the issue of ensuring safety and smooth traffic.

Although the City has done a good job in preparing and organizing the exam for many years, it must not be subjective, because even a small mistake can greatly affect the exam. In directing and organizing the exam, the City needs to closely follow the instructions of the Ministry, especially regularly update new regulations for proper implementation; prepare handling plans if any situations arise, in the spirit of ensuring safety and seriousness but also avoiding creating stress for candidates, creating conditions for them to participate in the exam with the most comfortable spirit.

Referring to the unfortunate violations that occurred in previous exams, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized the importance of promoting communication about the exam, especially the exam regulations, so that candidates and parents can clearly understand and avoid violations.

In addition, in the context of increasingly developing technology, the situation of cheating on exams using high technology can be more complicated. Therefore, along with training for exam supervisors, the City needs to carefully review the conditions of facilities at exam sites and exam printing locations to ensure compliance with regulations.

The 2024 High School Graduation Exam will take place from June 26-29 with more than 1 million candidates nationwide taking the exam. The exam results are expected to be announced on July 17./.
