Accordingly, this year's exam has 226 testing locations for regular 10th-grade students and 16 testing locations for specialized 10th-grade students. The testing locations are distributed widely across three regions to facilitate travel and participation for candidates.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, this year more than 151,000 ninth-grade students registered to take the entrance exam for public high schools, while the total number of students expected to graduate from junior high school is 169,079. Therefore, more than 17,000 students will not participate in the public high school entrance exam.
For the 2026-2027 school year, public high schools in the city are expected to enroll 118,955 students. Based on the number of registered candidates, the percentage of students with a chance to enter public high schools is over 78%, higher than the initial projection of 70.35%.
This is also the first 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City after the administrative boundary merger. The exam will take place on June 1st and 2nd.
Candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam usually take three tests: Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language. Literature and Mathematics have a time limit of 120 minutes, while the Foreign Language test is 90 minutes long.
For candidates applying to specialized or integrated 10th-grade classes, in addition to the three compulsory subjects, they will take an additional specialized or integrated exam lasting 150 minutes.
This year, each candidate can register for a maximum of 8 preferences, including 3 preferences for regular 10th grade classes, 3 preferences for integrated 10th grade classes, and 2 preferences for specialized 10th grade classes.
