Ho Chi Minh City announces official 10th grade entrance exam cutoff scores.

This afternoon (July 3rd), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the cut-off scores for admission to public high schools.

Among them, the highest cutoff score for 10th grade is at Nguyen Thuong Hien High School with 24.25. This is the total score of the three subjects: Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language, plus priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate regulations, and not receive a failing grade (0 points).

The admission score for the school is usually calculated as follows: Admission score = Literature exam score + Foreign language exam score + Mathematics exam score + Priority points (if any).

Exam scores are calculated on a scale from 0 to 10, with increments of 0.25. Bonus points for eligible candidates are limited to a maximum of 3 points. Successful candidates must take all three exams and not receive a score of 0 on any exam.

Based on the enrollment quotas of each school, the number of registered preferences, and the admission scores, the cutoff scores will follow the principle that the second preference will be higher than the first preference, and the third preference will be higher than the second preference.

Students' admission will be based on the three preferences they have registered. Schools are only allowed to admit students admitted to grade 10 according to the list approved by the Department of Education and Training.

The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 5-6. Out of more than 98,000 candidates, approximately 77,300 were admitted. The remaining students may attend private high schools, vocational training centers, or vocational colleges. According to statistics, these institutions can accommodate around 51,000 students, primarily based on academic records.

In 2023, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School had the highest 10th grade entrance exam scores with 25.5 for first choice, 25.75 for second choice, and 26 for third choice. Second was Gia Dinh High School with 24.5 for first choice, 24.75 for second choice, and 25 for third choice. The top 10 high schools with the highest entrance exam scores included: Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Huu Huan, Bui Thi Xuan, Phu Nhuan, Tran Phu, Le Quy Don, Mac Dinh Chi, and Nguyen Huu Cau.
