The magazine used interesting figures from UK tour operator Ski Vertigo to analyse the cost of three pints of beer, a 5km taxi ride and a McDonald's meal across 183 major cities to see which cost tourists the least.
Accordingly, Vietnam's largest city ranked sixth on the list with a cost of 11.07 USD (about 273 thousand VND). Guangzhou, a city known historically as an important starting point of the Silk Road and China's main trading port, topped the list. Three beers, a taxi ride and a meal from McDonald's in this city will only cost visitors 9.4 USD (about 232 thousand VND).
This is followed by Gurgaon of India, Alexandria of Egypt, Coimbatore of India, Kolkata of India, Shenzhen of China, Tunis of Tunisia, Beijing of China and Jakarta of Indonesia.
Time Out magazine began publication in 1968 as a purely British publication. However, over time, the ranking of world cities has expanded into an international periodical covering nearly 320 cities in 58 countries.
