(NLĐO) - Ho Chi Minh City is piloting the installation of LED screens and loudspeakers on Saigon Bridge to warn vehicles to slow down and reduce traffic accidents.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Public Transport and Infrastructure Management (under the Department of Construction) has just launched a pilot project to install an electronic signage system combined with loudspeakers on the Saigon Bridge to warn vehicles to reduce speed when traveling through the area.

Ho Chi Minh City is piloting the installation of loudspeakers and LED screens to warn drivers to reduce speed on Saigon Bridge.

Speakers and LED screens have been installed along the traffic route from Thu Duc District to the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Authorities have installed two LED screens displaying the warning message "Slippery road, reduce speed." Simultaneously, the public address system continuously broadcasts messages reminding people to observe carefully and proactively reduce speed to ensure traffic safety.

This area frequently experiences high traffic density, especially during peak hours and in rainy, slippery weather conditions, posing a high risk of traffic accidents. The installation of a warning system is expected to contribute to raising awareness among road users and reducing accidents on this important gateway route.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa (born in 1977, residing in Thu Duc ward), who frequently travels across the Saigon Bridge, said that the direct loudspeaker warnings help drivers pay more attention compared to conventional signs. "Sometimes, when it rains or the road is crowded, drivers tend to be careless and speed. Having continuous loudspeaker reminders helps road users reduce speed in time, making it safer," Mr. Hoa said.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Traffic Management and Technical Infrastructure stated that it will continue to monitor the effectiveness of the model to evaluate and consider the possibility of replicating it in areas with high traffic safety risks in the city.
