HCMC: Requesting the English center Than Dong 8 to immediately stop operating

(Dan Tri) - Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center was required to immediately stop organizing educational activities and return the collected fees to students.

The above request was clearly stated by Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Hieu in Notice No. 3053 on the results of a surprise inspection of Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center.

Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center is located at 1232 Quang Trung Street, Ward 8, Go Vap District.

At the time of inspection, the inspection team noted that the Center was licensed to establish on October 30, 2020, but had not yet been granted a license to operateeducation and a decision to recognize the center's director.

The unit has not yet provided personnel records, tax obligations and documents on policy implementation.

Regarding facilities, classrooms are equipped with desks, chairs, books, boards with classroom rules posted. The facility shows signs of operation.

The teaching programs that the center is advertising include: Super Stars English programs; Cambridge exam preparation; 100% English summer boarding; Q+ Summer Joy.

According to the report, the center currently organizes 4 English classes for children, with tuition fees from May 1-31.

The unit has not yet performed data entry and periodic reporting on the department's software.

Regarding public implementation according to Circular No. 09/2024/TT-BGDĐT, on the center's information board, there are advertisements for contents that are not within the functions and tasks of the foreign language center, 100% English summer boarding school, Q+ Summer Joy.

From the above results, the inspection team noted signs of administrative violations in the field of education as prescribed in Point b, Clause 5, Article 6 of Decree No. 04/2021/ND-CP dated January 22, 2021 of the Government : organizing educational activities or providing educational services without permission to operate.

The Department Inspectorate is handling the above violations of Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center according to its authority.

Based on the above violations, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Hieu requested that Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center immediately stop organizing educational activities at 1232 Quang Trung Street, Ward 8, Go Vap District and return the collected fees to learners according to regulations.
