Hung Lo ancient village is about 10 km from Hung Temple. Through many changes and ups and downs of history, this place still preserves almost intact the architecture of the ancient communal house dating back more than 300 years. This is a National Historical Relic including: the ancient temple, Dai Dinh, Long Dinh, Chuong Tower, Trong Tower, Than Nong altar, Van Chi house... Although more than 300 years have passed, all are still preserved intact in value.
According to Ms. La Thi Hong Thuy, a cultural officer of Hung Lo commune, Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province, Hung Lo communal house is likened to a miniature museum that holds many valuable antiques and treasures, including 11 royal decrees and 5 gilded palanquins (4 Van palanquins and 1 Bat Cong palanquin). Hung Lo is a village famous for its palanquin procession tradition from ancient times to the present, and for many consecutive years the village has won the First Prize. In 1918, the year of Mau Ngo, the Nguyen Dynasty king presented a plaque with the words: Hung Lo commemorates the First Festival.
Over time, the communal house has been renovated twice, so it still retains the traditional architecture of the ancient communal house under the Le Dynasty. In addition, the classical design structure is very sophisticatedly expressed by ancient Vietnamese artisans. Coming here, visitors will feel the antiquity and the mark of time shown through the moss on the communal house gate, decorative patterns, tiled roofs, etc.
The highlight of Hung Lo communal house is that visitors can enjoy the ancient xoan performance - a unique folk art form of the homeland recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, right in the ancient communal house space.
Ms. Phung Thi Hoa Le - Head of Tourism Management Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province said that when coming to Hung Lo ancient village, visitors will be able to visit and enjoy a complete xoan singing program including three singing stages: worship singing, fruit singing and festival singing so that visitors can understand the cultural features originating from the Hung King era. The singing style is very rustic without music , only drums and clappers, hands and feet dancing to create smooth xoan singing. Visitors can also visit the ancient houses in Hung Lo village that are over 200 years old and visit the process of making banh chung and banh day, making noodles, vermicelli, etc.
Not only that, when visiting Hung Lo ancient communal house, visitors will also be explained by the artisans here how to distinguish between ancient Xoan singing and modified Xoan singing as well as introduced to help visitors better understand the value of this UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage.
