As part of the "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter" program, on October 3rd, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward (Hanoi), in coordination with the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Preservation Support Fund, and TikTok Vietnam, organized a livestream event titled "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter".

The event aims to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2025), welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025, and spread traditional cultural values, introducing the beauty of Hanoi's Old Quarter heritage to the community, especially young people. At the same time, it is also a new step in digital transformation, heritage promotion, and local trade development.
The entire journey was live-streamed on social media, offering viewers a unique cultural experience: an online tour from the Phung Hung Mural Space to Hang Vai and Hang Ca streets in the autumn weather; enjoying a "Hanoi breakfast" with Khoi Hoi beef pho and Nhi coffee – flavors associated with the life of the ancient city.
The livestream also took viewers to Nam Huong Temple, Bach Ma Temple, the 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Arts Center, and Kim Ngan Temple – places that preserve the essence of traditional crafts.

A special highlight is the hands-on activity of making ancient lion head models with artisans and students, and the lively atmosphere of the "Mid-Autumn Festival Night" in the evening at the Hoan Kiem pedestrian street, with activities recreating traditional Mid-Autumn Festivals: food tray competition, lantern procession, feast breaking...
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Hong Trang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, said: the activities of the "Old Quarter Mid-Autumn Festival" in 2025 are taking place in the context that, for the first time, the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee – after the restructuring of the two-tiered government model – has chaired and coordinated with businesses, schools, and the community to organize many unique cultural activities.
The vibrant and colorful Phung Hung mural space is a gathering place for artisans and craftspeople to introduce, demonstrate, and guide children in making folk toys; Kim Ngan communal house and Hang Buom Art Center focus on exhibitions, seminars, and workshops on the application of traditional art in contemporary life...

"This is proof of the determination to preserve and recreate the memories of the Mid-Autumn Festival of the past, infusing it with the creative spirit of the present; and at the same time, it is how Hoan Kiem ward realizes the goal of building Hanoi into a creative cultural center, where tradition and modernity intertwine," Ms. Nguyen Hong Trang emphasized.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Preservation Support Fund, in the context of digital transformation becoming an inevitable trend, digital technology – especially digital content platforms – will be an effective bridge between heritage and the community.
The livestream experience of "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter" in Hoan Kiem ward is not only a cultural program, but also a message about innovation in preserving and spreading traditional values. When heritage is told in the language of the times, it becomes more vibrant, relatable, and has a stronger impact.
In particular, the program featured guest speakers and KOLs introducing and connecting consumers with characteristic products of Hoan Kiem ward such as Gia Trinh cakes, Van Loi candied fruits, and traditional toys, at attractive prices.

Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, believes that connecting heritage preservation with local trade development through digital technology is of great importance.
“This is both a solution to promote Vietnamese culture and products to a wide range of consumers and a contribution to affirming Vietnamese brands, supporting businesses and households in enhancing their competitiveness. The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development highly appreciates the initiative of Hoan Kiem ward and will continue to cooperate and promote the replication of models combining heritage – technology – commerce in many other localities,” Mr. Linh said.
Thanks to the reach of digital content platforms, the cultural values of the old town are conveyed through vivid and accessible images; at the same time, official information from the government, tourism and heritage promotion activities, traditional craft streets, and trade promotion for businesses and households in the ward are also introduced more effectively.

Sharing more about this new direction, Mr. Trinh Hoang Tung, Chairman of the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, affirmed: "We have identified digital transformation as a management tool and a driving force for development. When heritage is connected with technology, cultural values will be disseminated more strongly, while creating new business opportunities for local people."
The livestream experience of "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter" in Hoan Kiem ward will become a model combining heritage preservation and commercial development. From introducing cultural spaces and experiencing making Mid-Autumn toys to promoting traditional handicrafts – all aim for a dual goal: preserving cultural identity and boosting the economy.
