Experience Mid-Autumn Festival online "Full Moon Festival"

As part of the "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter" program, on October 3, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward (Hanoi) coordinated with the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund and TikTok Vietnam to organize a livestream "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter".

The event aims to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025), welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025 and spread traditional cultural values, introduce the beauty of Hanoi Old Quarter heritage to the community, especially the youth. At the same time, this is also a new step in digital transformation, promoting heritage and developing local trade.

The entire journey was broadcast live on social networks, giving viewers a unique cultural experience: an online tour from Phung Hung Mural Space to Hang Vai and Hang Ca streets in the autumn weather; enjoying “Hanoi breakfast” with Khoi Hoi beef noodle soup and Nhi coffee – flavors associated with ancient urban life.

The livestream also took viewers to Nam Huong communal house, Bach Ma temple, 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Art Center and Kim Ngan communal house - places that preserve the quintessence of traditional crafts.

The special highlight is the practice of making an ancient lion head model with artisans and students and gathering in the bustling atmosphere at the "Full Moon Festival" in the evening at Hoan Kiem walking street, with activities recreating the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival: competition of food trays, lantern procession, breaking the feast...

Speaking at the festival, Ms. Nguyen Hong Trang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward, said: The activities of the "Old Quarter Mid-Autumn Festival" in 2025 took place in the context that for the first time, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward - after arranging the 2-level government model - presided over and coordinated with businesses, schools and communities to organize many unique cultural activities.

The vibrant and colorful Phung Hung mural space is a gathering place for artisans and craftsmen to introduce, demonstrate, and guide children in making folk toys; Kim Ngan communal house and Hang Buom Art Center focus on exhibitions, discussions, and workshops on the application of traditional fine arts in contemporary life...

“This is a testament to the determination to preserve and recreate the memories of the old Mid-Autumn Festival, breathing into it the creative spirit of the present; at the same time, it is the way Hoan Kiem ward realizes the goal of building Hanoi into a creative cultural center, where tradition and modernity blend,” Ms. Nguyen Hong Trang emphasized.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Conservation Support Fund, in the context of digital transformation becoming an inevitable trend, digital technology - especially digital content platforms - will be an effective bridge between heritage and the community.

The livestream experience of "Mid-Autumn Festival in the Old Quarter" of Hoan Kiem Ward is not only a cultural program, but also a message about innovation in preserving and spreading traditional values. When heritage is told in the language of the times, it will be more vivid, closer and have a stronger influence.

In particular, in the program, guests and KOLs introduced and connected the consumption of typical products of Hoan Kiem ward such as Gia Trinh cake, Van Loi apricot, to he... at attractive prices.

Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, said that connecting heritage conservation with local trade development through digital technology is very important.

Thanks to the spread of digital content platforms, the cultural values of the old town are conveyed through vivid, easily accessible images; at the same time, official information from the government, tourism promotion activities - heritage - craft streets and trade promotion for businesses and business households of the ward are also introduced more effectively.

Sharing more about this new direction, Mr. Trinh Hoang Tung, Chairman of Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee affirmed: "We identify digital transformation as a management tool and driving force for development. When heritage is connected with technology, cultural values will be spread more strongly, while creating new business opportunities for local people.
