Comrade Tran Dang Ninh (real name Nguyen Tuan Dang) was born in 1910, in Quang Nguyen village, Quang Phu commune, Ung Hoa district (now Ung Thien commune, Hanoi city).
He was an excellent son of Ung Thien, an excellent and close student of President Ho Chi Minh . He was also a loyal and honest leader, dedicating his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
From a printer who was enlightened about revolutionary ideals early on, comrade Tran Dang Ninh became Secretary of the Northern Regional Party Committee, the one who laid the foundation for Military Logistics work, and especially the first Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee of the Party.
In any position, he always demonstrated steadfastness, diligence, thrift, integrity, impartiality, and determination to fight corruption, embezzlement, and negativity, contributing to maintaining the purity and strength of the Party and the revolutionary government. These are qualities that President Ho Chi Minh highly praised and are also profound lessons of current significance for today's generation.
In his speech commemorating the 55th anniversary of the Bac Son Uprising and the 85th birthday of comrade Tran Dang Ninh, General Vo Nguyen Giap once emphasized: “Today, in the cause of innovation, we need people like Tran Dang Ninh. Uncle Ho said: “To build socialism and communism, we must build socialist people and communist people”. Is Mr. Ninh the type of person that Uncle Ho wanted to build?”
That question still has value and is topical, urging us to self-reflect, self-correct, constantly strive and practice following the example of comrade Tran Dang Ninh.
The anniversary is an occasion to review the glorious revolutionary tradition, to remember and deeply appreciate the great contributions of comrades, and at the same time to affirm the will and determination to continue the revolutionary path that comrade Tran Dang Ninh and generations of fathers and brothers have worked hard to cultivate.
Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Nguyen Trong Thien, Deputy Head of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, Vietnam People's Army, said: "Comrade Tran Dang Ninh has returned to the motherland for 70 years, but his name, image and memories remain forever in the hearts of cadres, soldiers and people across the country. Throughout his revolutionary activities, he was always trusted by the Party, Uncle Ho and the Central Military Commission to undertake many important, difficult and arduous tasks. No matter the circumstances, he always upheld his sense of responsibility and dedication, overcame challenges, and excellently completed his assigned tasks, leaving a deep mark in the work of building revolutionary forces, consolidating the great national unity bloc, and greatly contributing to the leadership of the Party."
“In particular, during the period 1950-1955, he was appointed to the General Military Commission, holding the position of Director of the General Department of Supply, the agency responsible for managing a large amount of assets and materials of the Party, State and Army. As a leader, he always upheld the spirit of being exemplary, honest and dedicated in leadership and management; focused on managing and preserving materials and assets for the resistance war; and at the same time paid attention to building the organization, training and fostering the staff in both political ideology and professional expertise. Thanks to that, the staff and employees of the logistics and technical sectors were more assured in their work, loved the industry and profession, and contributed to the successful completion of the resistance war and national construction tasks,” Major General Nguyen Trong Thien emphasized the great contributions of comrade Tran Dang Ninh.
Also at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Chi Vien, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Ung Thien commune, said: "The year 2025 has a special significance as it marks the 70th anniversary of the passing of comrade Tran Dang Ninh, and is also the year Ung Thien commune was officially established on the basis of merging 4 communes. This is a historical milestone opening a new era - the era of strong growth of our nation and homeland.
In the context of the whole country promoting industrialization, modernization and deep international integration, Ung Thien commune is facing many development opportunities, but also has to face new requirements and challenges. In the face of such opportunities and fortunes, more than ever, the Party Committee, government and people of Ung Thien commune need to firmly take Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought as the ideological foundation, promote the glorious revolutionary tradition, study and follow the example of comrade Tran Dang Ninh, a loyal, exemplary, honest communist, who devoted his whole life to the country and the people.
Comrade Nguyen Chi Vien also affirmed that with new determination and spirit of solidarity and unity, he believes that Ung Thien commune will continuously develop, becoming a model locality of the Capital, worthy of the heroic tradition of the homeland and the great contributions of comrade Tran Dang Ninh, an outstanding son of the nation, the pride of the people of the homeland.
Mrs. Tran Thi Dang Thu was moved when listening to the memories of her father's dedication.
Sharing about her beloved father, Mrs. Tran Thi Dang Thu, daughter of comrade Tran Dang Ninh, emotionally said: “During his lifetime, my father was always strict in training, teaching his children to study hard, be polite, and live according to family rules. Before he passed away, he reminded us that we must try to study to be independent, must strive, save, live honestly and uprightly.”
Those simple yet profound words of advice have become a guiding principle for generations of children in the family, and are also valuable lessons on the ethics and personality of revolutionary soldiers who devoted their lives to the country and the people.
With a sharp intellect, upright spirit, and kind heart, comrade Tran Dang Ninh was one of President Ho Chi Minh's outstanding students. His contributions are forever respected and appreciated by the people. In recognition of his great contributions and dedication, the Party and State awarded him the Gold Star Order, the First Class Independence Order, and many other noble medals.
