X INEVITABLE TREND
With the development of digital technology, artists, music producers, directors, and filmmakers in Vietnam are leveraging the benefits of AI to save time, effort, and costs in artistic creation.

Most recently, the film "The Corpse Possessed" used the theme song "Nighttime Delusions," composed and performed by AI. Many opinions suggest the lyrics lack depth, and the AI-generated vocals lack power and emotion. Many also questioned why the production team didn't commission a real musician and singer to perform the theme song. In response to the mixed reactions, producer Nhat Trung stated that AI is merely a supporting tool, while humans remain the primary force. Despite using AI, the theme song still emphasizes preserving Vietnamese cultural identity through its lyrics, arrangement, and singing style. Furthermore, the producer argued that the use of AI is an inevitable step in the digital age.
Recently, in the Dien Bien - Brightening Ban Flower Art Program, singer Duong Hoang Yen performed the song "New Day in the Ban Flower Region," composed by AI and edited and perfected by musician and producer Duong Truong Giang and director Viet Dang. This performance was considered to offer a fresh experience for the audience. Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper, musician Duong Truong Giang commented: "Applying technology to entertainment products is necessary and an inevitable trend. However, AI should only be used to gather more multi-faceted information about the content being created. Relying on AI to replace the creative process is not advisable. Because a work of art is where the artist expresses their artistic voice."

Previously, singer Dan Truong also used AI to simulate his image, creating the setting and characters in his music video "Au O Vi Dau ". From about 600 photos of the male singer, the AI created a new "version" of Dan Truong, but according to viewers' comments, it was not as lifelike as the "original".
The application of AI in music videos and films has also been implemented by young director and producer Pham Vinh Khuong to create many products such as the music videos "Bức tranh Đại Việt," "Mắt bão ," "Tiệc trắng, " and most recently, the music video "Chèo mở lái ra" and the film "Áo trắng sau đêm trắng"… In an interview with Thanh Nien newspaper, Pham Vinh Khuong said: "The strength of AI is, first and foremost, its ability to optimize all stages of production, saving time, costs, and significantly streamlining personnel. It has completely changed the way I approach creative work. Firstly, AI brings outstanding technical efficiency. For example, during the making of the music video "Bức tranh Đại Việt" or the film "Áo trắng sau đêm trắng ," I used AI to analyze millions of data points, thereby creating the script, images, and sound at a speed that a traditional team would find difficult to keep up with. This not only saves time but also significantly reduces production costs – a very important factor for independent artists like me. Secondly..." Secondly, AI allows me to experiment with bold ideas that might previously have been considered impossible. For example, recreating the cultural history of Cheo (Vietnamese traditional opera) with vivid 3D effects, entirely using a phone and AI, is something I never thought I could do a few years ago."
UNDERSTANDING AND CONTROLLING AI
Given the growing trend of leveraging AI in artistic creation, many argue that over time, artists will become completely dependent on AI, resulting in products lacking significant artistic value, especially in terms of emotional impact.

Musician Duong Truong Giang believes that a balance in the approach and use of AI technology is essential to avoid abuse; each artist should have a sufficiently strong "ego" to use AI as a companion rather than becoming dependent on it.
According to director Pham Vinh Khuong's experience, to use AI effectively, people must know how to place it in the right context. AI is only a supporting tool, not the final decision-maker. In every project, humans must play the leading role in shaping ideas, emotions, and messages, while AI only assists with the technical aspects. To use AI effectively, artists need to constantly learn and master the technology, instead of letting it guide them. This requires an open mindset, a willingness to adapt to the times, while maintaining their own creative identity.
"AI opens up an unlimited creative space where I can explore new aspects of art without being constrained by material resources. Ultimately, I think AI's greatest strength is its ability to personalize and optimize the audience experience. With big data, AI helps me better understand what the audience wants, thereby adjusting content to be both artistic and relatable. This is a major step forward in connecting art with the community," said director Pham Vinh Khuong.
"I also believe that true human creativity lies in the ability to ask questions, seek meaning, and connect emotionally—things that AI cannot replace. Therefore, I encourage my colleagues to view AI as an opportunity to enhance capabilities, optimize processes, and focus on aspects that only humans can do. Only when we understand and control it will AI truly become a driving force for art, not a threat," Pham Vinh Khuong further shared.
