Debate about Thanh Hang

On the afternoon of May 26th, the showcase for the film *Mesdames of Youth* took place in Ho Chi Minh City. The event brought together director Thang Vu and the cast, including Thanh Hang, Hong Anh, Luong The Thanh, and others.

During the event, the producers released some of the first best-cuts from the film project. In this project, Thanh Hang plays Cam Thanh - a dancer who lives instinctively, recklessly, and suffers greatly.

Thanh Hang said that after a few years away from acting, she only wants to return when she finds a truly different role. "Cam Thanh is a great opportunity but also very challenging because she's so different from me in real life. With Cam Thanh, she almost has nothing to lose, while I have so much to worry about," the actress shared.

According to Thanh Hang, the most difficult thing is not changing one's appearance but making the audience believe in and empathize with the character. She believes that "making oneself look bad" is not a sacrifice but an opportunity for an actress to transform. "On the fashion runway, I always have to be impeccably dressed, but in film, I'm not afraid to look bad as long as it best serves the character," she said.

Besides her role as an actress, Thanh Hang is also a major investor in this film project. She did not disclose specific production costs but said the film cost a large sum of money, especially for the settings.

Responding to debates about her somewhat mature appearance in the first teaser, Thanh Hằng explained that the makeup style of Saigon women in the 1960s favored matte foundation, heavy eyeliner, and high buns, making faces look older than in modern times. However, she emphasized that the images viewers saw were only "a small glimpse" into Cầm Thanh's tumultuous journey.

"The teaser only lasts about a minute and a half, so it's hard for people to imagine what the story is about. This isn't a two-hour show. She's a dancer, but there are many other situations and images in the film. I don't just dance all the time. The makeup style for the character also makes me look 15-20 years older," Thanh Hang shared.

According to the actress, she performed many emotionally intense scenes in the film. However, what haunted Thanh Hang the most were the intimate scenes. The actress said: "That scene was truly terrifying, not only for me but also for my co-star. When the producer allows it, I will tell you more about the behind-the-scenes." Thanh Hang revealed that director Thang Vu had suggested she drink wine before filming these scenes. But Thanh Hang refused because she "wanted to stay sober when filming the intimate scenes."

Besides Thanh Hang, Luong The Thanh's appearance in the film project also attracted attention. In *Mesdames Thanh Sac* , he plays Ba Dung - a man caught between a powerful wife and a beautiful mistress. The actor said he always wanted to step out of his comfort zone to challenge himself with more edgy roles.

"For over 20 years, audiences have been familiar with my image as a gentle and kind person. Therefore, I am now very eager to take on roles with more complex inner emotions to showcase my acting abilities," he expressed.

Previously, the project was originally titled Madames of Thanh Sắc. However, the producers recently changed the name to Madames of Thanh Sắc.

The film revolves around the lives of the beautiful Cam Thanh (Thanh Hang) and Madame Sac (Hong Anh) - the wealthy owner of the Kim Do nightclub and possessing many diamonds. Once close friends, the two women clash intensely over a man (Luong The Thanh), leading to shocking events.
