On February 23, the Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard Command held a ceremony to summarize and award prizes for the writing contest "Understanding 65 Years of the Border Guard's Tradition and the Vietnamese Border Guard Law" and the art photography contest "Kien Giang Border Guard with Border and Maritime Sovereignty " in 2023.
These two competitions were jointly organized by the Kien Giang Border Guard, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and the Kien Giang Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, aiming to create works of significant artistic and content value about the Kien Giang Border Guard in fulfilling their nhiệm vụ of protecting the sacred borders and maritime sovereignty of the Fatherland.
Colonel Huynh Van Dong, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, presented awards to the outstanding teams in the competition.
For the writing competition, after four months of launching, 3,876 entries were submitted by cadres, Party members, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members, and people from all walks of life in the province to the Propaganda Departments of district and city Party committees and affiliated Party committees to participate in the competition.
Localities, agencies, and units selected 210 high-quality entries to submit to the provincial-level competition. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 19 individual prizes, including: 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes, and 10 Consolation Prizes; 11 collective prizes for outstanding participation in the competition, including 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes, and 2 Consolation Prizes; and 3 special prizes for entries with the most elaborate, artistic, and dignified presentation, and with practical and effective solutions.
Units and localities with a large number of high-quality entries include: the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police Department, the Provincial Border Guard Command; the Propaganda Departments of the District Party Committees of An Minh, Giong Rieng, Giang Thanh, Kien Luong, Go Quao, the City Party Committee of Rach Gia, Phu Quoc and the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies and Enterprises Bloc.
Awards were presented to the winners of the competition.
Mr. Thai Van Khoi, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Board and a member of the competition's organizing committee, shared: "The content of the entries clearly reflects the 65th anniversary of the Vietnam Border Guard's Traditional Day, the 35th anniversary of the National Border Guard Day, the 49th anniversary of the Kien Giang Border Guard's Traditional Day, the Vietnam Border Guard Law, and the contents on borders and territories mentioned in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, and other guiding documents of the Party, State, and Government on land border work."
The entries reflected and expressed perceptions of the programs and models implemented by the Border Guard; they proposed many positive solutions for building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and developing border. In terms of form, the authors invested considerable effort in their submissions, presenting them scientifically and creatively, using color printing, binding, boxed packaging, and artistic decorations, creating a positive impression on readers.
For the art photography competition, after more than two months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 378 entries from nearly 40 participating authors and selected a collection of 100 works for display and exhibition, of which 12 works were awarded prizes.

The content of the photographic works focuses on the main theme of images of border guards associated with the labor and production activities of the people; patrol and protection activities of the border, maritime sovereignty, and crime prevention... of the "Green Uniformed Soldiers," reflecting quite comprehensively the activities and tasks of the Kien Giang Border Guard and the development of Kien Giang province in the current period, with good ideological, propaganda, and educational value.
Colonel Huynh Van Dong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard, said that the competition contributes to raising awareness of historical traditions, while also demonstrating the concern, recognition, and honor of the Party and State for the process of building, fighting, and maturing, as well as the great contributions of the Kien Giang Border Guard in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland in general and the task of protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security in particular.
Through this competition, we aim to inform and publicize the positive results achieved by the Kien Giang Border Guard in fulfilling its duties, as well as to encourage and motivate officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard to strive, overcome difficulties, and compete to successfully complete their assigned tasks and continue to do well in information and propaganda work in the future.
