In recent times, the Fatherland Front of Hung Ha district has actively implemented a livelihood support program for poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households. Through the program, many families have received a “fishing rod” to develop the economy , improve their lives and escape poverty.
The Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Ha district coordinated with the District Women's Union to present sewing machines to households in difficult circumstances.
Visiting Mr. Nguyen Van Tu's family in An Tien village, Chi Hoa commune, he excitedly shared with us the achievements of the "livelihood pig" given by the Fatherland Front of Hung Ha district: After 5 months of care, the sow has grown very well, is disease-free and has given birth to 13 piglets. After deducting expenses, although the profit is not high, it still motivates my family to continue taking care of the sow. Currently, the pig is in the gestation stage and we are very hopeful that the next litter of piglets will bring higher value.
Mr. Tu has been living with chronic kidney failure for the past 13 years. Because he has to undergo dialysis 3 times a week, he cannot do heavy work, and his family's finances are increasingly difficult. In September 2022, with the help of the Hung Ha District Fatherland Front Committee, he was given a sow to create a livelihood. For him, raising pigs is both suitable for his health and helps ease economic difficulties.
“In the past time, the Commune Fatherland Front Committee and the village officials in charge regularly checked and supported the family in the process of receiving and raising the pigs so that they could develop and reproduce well and fulfill their commitment to the District Fatherland Front Committee. Therefore, after the first pig gave birth, Mr. Tu gave a pig to another poor household in the locality,” said Mr. Bui Phu Doanh, Chairman of the Chi Hoa Commune Fatherland Front Committee.
In 2022, not only Mr. Tu, many poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households in communes in Hung Ha district were given livestock to support their livelihoods and develop the economy. In particular, the Hung Ha District Fatherland Front Committee gave 1 cow worth over 13 million VND to Mr. Ta Van Tien's family, Da Phu 2 village, Thong Nhat commune; gave 5 sows worth over 50 million VND to disadvantaged households in the communes. Currently, the families are actively taking care of their livestock, initially bringing economic efficiency.
Continuing the success of the program, in early 2023, the Hung Ha District Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with the District Women's Union to present 10 sewing machines to poor households in difficult circumstances with a total value of about 50 million VND. Thanks to the new sewing machine, Mr. Ha Dinh Thoan and his wife, Soi 1 village, Phuc Khanh commune, have more motivation to raise their two children to study. Mr. Thoan shared: The impact of Agent Orange/Dioxin has made my life very difficult. Previously, my wife and I had to borrow sewing machines to make scarves, but the efficiency was not high because the machines were old. Now that we have a new sewing machine, we will try to work hard to increase efficiency and income.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Ha, Chairwoman of the Hung Ha District Fatherland Front Committee, shared: With the motto "giving fishing rods, not fish", in 2023, in addition to the sewing machine donation program, the District Fatherland Front Committee also coordinated with the Hung Ha District Youth Union to organize the donation of 500 chickens to 5 households in difficult circumstances to develop the economy with an amount of over 13 million VND from the "For the Poor" fund. In the coming time, we will continue to support means, breeding animals, and seedlings for families to develop the economy, hoping that families will strive to rise up.
Not only in Hung Ha, from 2022 to now, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has supported livelihoods for more than 2,500 poor people with a total amount of up to billions of VND. Along with supporting production means, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations also provide technical support, knowledge and create jobs for the poor. Along with that, the work of reviewing and selecting the right subjects, providing appropriate assistance according to the conditions and circumstances of each person, thereby helping livelihood models to be effective. Giving livelihood seeds to poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households is a meaningful work, demonstrating the responsibility of all levels and sectors in the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - leaving no one behind". This is not only the sharing of the community for the poor to develop the economy in a sustainable direction but also contributes to creating the "key" to sustainable poverty reduction.
The sow donated by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Ha district helped Mr. Nguyen Van Tu's family in Chi Hoa commune improve their economy.
