According to Decision No. 149/QD-CTN of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed on January 24, 2025, Coach Mai Duc Chung was honored to be awarded the title "Hero of Labor" for his outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung presented the title of Labor Hero and flowers to coach Mai Duc Chung.

Sharing his feelings at the Congress, Coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: "Today is a great day for me. In my life, I never dared to think that I would receive the most noble achievement of the country. It is truly touching! I am very grateful to the Party, the Government, the agencies, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Football Federation, and all the football fans at home and abroad, and especially the Women's Football Team, who have supported me a lot in the past time to have the achievements like today."
Coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that this honor will be the motivation for him to continue to strive and contribute to Vietnamese Football: "Maybe in terms of health, I cannot be as good as before, but with all that I have, I always remind myself to be more positive, do my best to achieve more achievements with the team members, worthy of this title."
Coach Mai Duc Chung is a veteran coach with achievements with the Vietnam Women's Team winning 8 Gold Medals at the SEA Games (1997, 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021-2022, 2023), winning the AFF Cup 2019, fourth place at the 2014 ASIAD, fifth place at the 2022 Asian Cup and winning a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.
Previously, Coach Mai Duc Chung was also successful with Men's Football, when he coached the Vietnam national team (as interim manager) through a difficult period and with Binh Duong Club entered the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2009.
In 2025, Mr. Mai Duc Chung will continue to join the Vietnam Women's Team to compete in the 2026 Asian Cup Qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Championship and the 2025 SEA Games.
