Paying tribute to the contributions of the late Professor Tran Tien Sum - Chairman of the Trantien Foundation (USA)

With the desire to contribute to the cause of health care for the community and his homeland, Prof. Tran Tien Sum founded the TranTien Foundation, promoting cooperation programs, technology transfer and supporting modern equipment in many fields, especially the field of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University from 2012 to present.

Although Professor Tran Tien Sum has passed away, the imprints of his contributions and dedication are always deeply engraved in our hearts and are an endless source of inspiration for generations of doctors, medical staff, students and pupils of the School. On behalf of the family, Dr. Doan Van Minh - Head of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine, the nephew of the late Professor, was moved to express his deep gratitude to the Board of Directors, teachers, doctors, staff and students of the School for their precious feelings for the late Professor.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy - Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy expressed his deep gratitude for the dedication of Prof. Tran Tien Sum. At the same time, he sent his sincere thanks to the members of the TranTien Foundation for their valuable contributions over the past time.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy also presented the decision to confer the title of Visiting Professor to Prof. Tran Van Nho - currently a Professor at Mayo Clinic University Hospital, Minnesota, USA and a member of the TranTien Foundation.

Over the past 12 years, Prof. Tran Van Nho has participated in organizing training programs, seminars, plastic surgery weeks, cosmetic - microsurgery and taught continuing training courses on cosmetic plastic surgery at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University with the participation of hundreds of students from all over the country.

The professor has directly participated in typical activities such as: Teaching, continuing education (CME) on plastic surgery of the head and neck, lower limbs, breast reconstruction after cancer, microsurgery, fat grafting, lymphatic grafting; transferring microsurgery techniques, nerve regeneration, limb reconstruction to Vietnamese doctors; connecting with international organizations to support training and research; co-organizing national and international specialized seminars and conferences...

After the ceremony, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University and doctors from Mayo Clinic Hospital, Minnesota, USA jointly organized a scientific seminar "Update on advances in cosmetic plastic surgery". Professors presented and discussed reports related to topics such as: "Autologous fat grafting: From technique to clinical practice" and "Complex cases and lessons learned in cosmetic plastic surgery" (Prof. Tran Van Nho), "Breast cancer: Advances in treatment and surgery" and "Compartment compression" (Prof. Amanda Holland), "The art and science of breast cosmetic surgery" and "The miraculous change of modern body contouring" (Prof. Leo Keegan).

Through this event, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the University Hospital continue to affirm their appreciation for the cooperative relationship with TranTien Foundation; at the same time, they hope that this relationship will continue to be attached and developed, bringing many meaningful projects to the community.
