Da Nang implements action program to improve public health.

DNO - The Da Nang City Party Committee has just issued an Action Program to implement Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

The action plan sets the goal of building a modern, equitable, efficient, and sustainable urban healthcare system; meeting the increasingly high healthcare demands of the people; striving to develop Da Nang into a specialized medical center for the Central and Central Highlands regions, aiming towards smart healthcare and international integration.

The city aims to increase the average height of children and adolescents aged 1-18 by at least 1.5cm by 2030; and achieve an average life expectancy of 75.6 years, with at least 68 years lived in good health.

Vaccination rates for vaccines in the Essential Immunization Program are above 95%; health insurance coverage is above 95% of the population, and universal health insurance coverage is to be achieved by 2030.

The program identifies the task of strengthening and developing grassroots healthcare, in which 100% of commune-level health stations are reorganized in terms of structure, functions, and tasks; receive investment in facilities, medical equipment, and human resources as prescribed; and implement electronic health records, electronic prescriptions, and electronic medical records according to the roadmap.

The focus is on developing Da Nang into a specialized medical center for the Central and Central Highlands regions, with several leading specialties (cardiology, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, geriatrics) and as one of the national organ transplant coordination centers. Simultaneously, the plan aims to develop medical tourism services, rehabilitation activities, and elderly care services, leveraging the city's advantages as a coastal city.

The goal is for Da Nang to become a smart, modern, and specialized medical center for the Central and Central Highlands regions by 2045; with comprehensively developed healthcare services reaching quality levels comparable to advanced countries in the region; and for its citizens to have access to and benefit from a quality and equitable essential healthcare system.

The average life expectancy of the population has reached over 80 years, with the number of years lived in good health increasing to over 71 years; the stature, physical fitness, and average height of young people are comparable to those of countries with a similar level of development.

The action program identifies key tasks and solutions, including a strong emphasis on innovation in thinking and action in leadership, guidance, and organization of the work of protecting, caring for, and improving the health of the people.

The city is focusing on improving institutions, enhancing the capacity of the healthcare system, especially preventive medicine and primary healthcare, while also promoting the strengths of traditional medicine.

The program sets out requirements to improve medical ethics, develop high-quality and comprehensive healthcare human resources to meet patient satisfaction and international integration; promote healthcare financing reform and develop effective and sustainable health insurance policies.

The city has identified breakthroughs in the development of science , technology, innovation, and comprehensive digital transformation in healthcare; while simultaneously promoting the development of private healthcare and effectively mobilizing and utilizing all resources for healthcare development.
