On June 12th, information from the Nghe An Provincial Police Department indicated that the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province, in coordination with relevant units, successfully dismantled a large-scale motorcycle theft and trafficking ring operating across multiple provinces and cities.
Authorities are working with Ly Nhat Quy Cuong, the suspected ringleader of a motorcycle theft and resale ring.
The ringleader of this car theft and resale operation is Ly Nhat Quy Cuong (26 years old, residing in Thanh Thoi An commune, Tran De district, Soc Trang province). At the Nghe An "branch," the leader of this theft ring is Nguyen Dinh Son (36 years old, residing in Tan Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province). Son has three previous convictions for theft.
The gang specializing in stealing and selling stolen vehicles was a highly sophisticated and tightly-knit organization led by Ly Nhat Quy Cuong, operating through Facebook and Zalo accounts under the name Bi Ken.
Accordingly, the members of this motorcycle theft and resale ring, led by Cuong, mostly did not know each other, and the "subordinates" did not know Cuong's face. All communication took place on social media, which Cuong directly managed.
The suspects have been arrested.
The police identified the suspects as being directly involved in a ring that stole and sold stolen motorcycles in many provinces and cities: Hanoi , Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, Soc Trang, Kien Giang, etc. After being stolen, the motorcycles were transported by truck under Ly Nhat Quy Cuong's direction to a warehouse in Thoi An Ward (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), then transferred to warehouses in Ha Tien City (Kien Giang province) and then transported to Cambodia via unofficial routes for sale.
After a period of investigation and surveillance, the police simultaneously arrested 12 suspects residing in various provinces and cities. The police seized 75 stolen motorcycles, 2 trucks, 5 lock-picking tools, and other evidence.
The police seized the motorcycles stolen by this gang.
Trucks used to transport stolen motorcycles for sale.
Initially, the suspects confessed that in addition to the 75 motorcycles already seized by the police, the ring had previously transported over 200 stolen motorcycles to the border and then smuggled them into Cambodia for sale.
