From 1941, the French colonialists built the Nine Tunnels area to store materials and weapons. Under Ngo Dinh Diem and Ngo Dinh Can, the Nine Tunnels were transformed into tiger cages, imprisoning revolutionary fighters and those participating in the patriotic movement... and hundreds of lives were tragically lost in these prisons.
Nine Tunnels, recognized as a national historical site since 1993, is a testament to the patriotism and indomitable strength of our people.
These soldiers remained steadfastly loyal to the Party and the revolutionary ideals, striving to overcome material hardships, exiles, and the brutal oppression of the Ngo Dinh Diem regime in order to survive and return to the people.

The thematic exhibition "Memories of the War Era" at the Nine Caves historical site showcases nearly 120 representative images, documents, and artifacts. Through this, it aims to more deeply disseminate the significance of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs; and the concern of the Party, the State, and all sectors of the people for the work of showing gratitude and repaying kindness.
In particular, through documents and artifacts, the exhibition will evoke memories of the heroic years of the nation's struggle. Each artifact is linked to a touching story about the lives, fighting spirit, and noble sacrifices of the soldiers and individuals who contributed to the glorious victory, further enriching the golden history of the nation.
Young people visit and learn through the documents and artifacts displayed at the Nine Caves historical site.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of the Hue City History Museum, said: "Through this activity, we aim to honor the great contributions of our ancestors in the struggle for national liberation and the protection of the Fatherland; and to promote the fine tradition of the nation regarding the moral principle of 'Drinking water, remembering the source' throughout society."
At the same time, it is important to spread and educate the patriotic tradition and revolutionary heroism among all strata of the population, especially the younger generation. This contributes to the best implementation of the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws on the work related to wounded soldiers, martyrs, and those who have rendered meritorious service to the revolution.
