Trained and supported by Bach Mai Hospital since 2021, the stroke unit, the Department of Emergency Resuscitation, and Yen Binh Regional Medical Center have successfully treated nearly 70 cases of cerebral infarction due to stroke with thrombolysis.
This is a method of using intravenous Alteplase to dissolve blood clots, helping to reopen blocked blood flow, often applied in cases of acute cerebral infarction and acute myocardial infarction. The use of fibrinolytic drugs plays a role in reducing the rate of disability and increasing the ability to recover motor function of patients after a stroke.

According to specialist doctor I Vu Hoang Toan, Department of Emergency Resuscitation, Yen Binh Regional Medical Center: To be effective, patients need to be treated with thrombolytic drugs within the first 3 hours, from the time the first symptoms of a stroke appear.
"Before implementing, we were trained at the Stroke Center, Bach Mai Hospital. When a patient shows signs of stroke, after examination and based on the accurate results of the imaging diagnosis, we will inject thrombolytic drugs into the patient within the first 4-5 hours to dissolve the blood clot, avoiding serious sequelae such as disability for the patient" - Doctor Toan further emphasized.

According to actual studies, 30% of stroke patients will not be disabled or paralyzed if treated early with thrombolytic drugs during the “golden time”. Therefore, when experiencing symptoms such as weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, changes in vision, dizziness, severe headache and loss of balance, etc., patients need to be taken to medical facilities for timely testing, diagnosis and treatment.
