On July 26, Mr. Nguyen Tri Thuc - Deputy Minister of Health - and a delegation from Cho Ray Hospital surveyed and worked with Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center on supporting training and remote consultation to help treat and provide better health care for patients.
Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center said that the center has a scale of more than 400 beds, lacks usable area, is degraded and other auxiliary works are not guaranteed; medical staff is lacking; medical equipment is damaged and especially lacks specialized equipment to treat people.
The hospital is currently applying for an additional 100-150 medical staff, adding some policies to attract and retain employees, and especially increasing training in specialized areas specific to the islands to serve the people.
Mr. Tran Quang Hien - Director of the Department of Health of An Giang province - said that the Department of Health of An Giang province also coordinated with relevant units to survey and research the plan to invest in modern equipment for the Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center to serve medical examination and treatment for people.
"The locality asked Cho Ray Hospital for advice on providing professional support for doctors working at Phu Quoc Medical Center, not only to serve the health of the people but also towards APEC 2207. Helping Phu Quoc Medical Center become a modern medical examination and treatment facility, providing good medical examination and treatment for the people and tourists," said Mr. Hien.

Mr. Pham Thanh Viet - Deputy Director of Cho Ray Hospital - informed that Cho Ray Hospital will soon support Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center with human resources, expertise and medical equipment, providing emergency care and on-site treatment for serious trauma cases without having to transfer to higher levels.
Mr. Viet proposed to the leaders of An Giang province, the provincial Department of Health and the Phu Quoc Special Zone Medical Center to re-study the emergency procedure, soon invest in more medical equipment such as operating tables, operating rooms, endoscopes, IMR scanners, CT scanners, etc. and expand the hospital area to serve patients better and better.
"Welcoming APEC 2027 also requires Phu Quoc Medical Center to carefully prepare facilities and medical equipment so that people, tourists and high-ranking officials feel secure when traveling here," Mr. Viet emphasized.
On this occasion, Cho Ray Hospital donated charity houses to the poor in Phu Quoc worth 100 million VND.
