Praising the efforts and achievements of the leadership and medical staff of Thong Nhat Hospital over the years, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia said that this is the result of solidarity, joint efforts, and consensus to overcome all difficulties and levels of generations of doctors and hospital staff.
From a hospital with only 450 patients, mainly examining and treating internal and general surgery, the hospital has now developed to a scale of 1,200 beds and full of in-depth scientific experts, applying many advanced and modern techniques... becoming one of the last line hospitals in the Southern region.
Entering a new era, an era of improving ourselves, developing wealth and prosperity for the nation, Mr. Nghia requested the leaders and medical staff of Thong Nhat Hospital to continue to thoroughly grasp and implement the viewpoints, tasks and solutions for developing healthcare, society, taking care of people's health, and ensuring social security.
This is the top priority task that medical and health care facilities such as hospitals need to perform.
At the same time, implement the good method of "taking the patient as the center" in the work of protecting and taking care of the health of cadres and people. Expand international cooperation, promote research and application of scientific and technical advances, advanced technology, and digital transformation.
Especially focus on building a team of cadres with solid political background, good professional qualifications, exemplary style, fully meeting the requirements of medical theory, medical skills and medical ethics.

With 50 years of development and the history of the country, the hospital has become the cradle of geriatrics in Vietnam.
In the current trend of population aging, the hospital's leadership has determined the goal of building Thong Nhat Hospital into the last comprehensive, high-tech geriatric hospital of the Ministry of Health, developing on par with hospitals in the ASEAN region to ensure the best completion of the task of protecting and caring for the health of the department and the population.
The leaders of Thong Nhat Hospital hope to receive investment attention from the State as well as the Ministry of Health, especially in investing in building a Cancer Center with full speed radiography and nuclear medicine machines to improve the quality of treatment for the people.
