(Dan Tri) - Due to the impact of storms and rain, the classroom at the satellite school of Thanh Lam Primary School, Ba Thuoc District, Thanh Hoa Province was cracked, forcing 19 students to study in the village cultural house.

For nearly 3 months, 19 first grade students at the Leo satellite school, Thanh Lam Primary School, Thanh Lam Commune, Ba Thuoc District, Thanh Hoa Province have had to go to school in the village cultural house because the classroom is cracked and seriously degraded.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thuoc, Principal of Thanh Lam Primary School, said that the school has 3 separate locations. Of which, the Leo area branch was built in 2000. After many years of use, the building consisting of a classroom and a teacher's waiting room shows signs of deterioration.

Early last September, due to the effects of storms and rain, these two rooms had large cracks and the ceiling and walls were leaking.

"Because the classroom was cracked, we had to arrange to bring 19 first grade students to Leo village's cultural house to study while waiting for a solution," said Mr. Thuoc.

According to Mr. Thuoc, during the study time at the cultural house, students and teachers face many difficulties in studying because of the lack of equipment. In addition, every time the village organizes a conference, we have to balance the time for the students to study appropriately.

"The school hopes that local authorities and relevant agencies will soon have a solution so that students can have better learning conditions in the future," said Mr. Thuoc.

According to Dan Tri reporters, the cracks on the classroom walls range from 50cm to more than 1m long. In addition, the wall surface is leaking, damp, the house foundation is peeling, and there is a risk of collapse.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Ha Tu Nhien, Head of the Departmentof Education and Training of Ba Thuoc district, said that in addition to the Leo school, there are also 5 classrooms at the Bam school (Thanh Lam Primary School) that are also in a state of disrepair and must be relocated because they are located in the traffic planning area.

Regarding the long-term plan, Ba Thuoc district has planned and proposed to merge two schools to build a new school in Leo area. However, due to difficulties in funding, construction has not been possible until now.

"The new school is expected to cost about 20 billion VND, the district is looking for capital to implement the construction," said Mr. Nhien.
