University of Science has new Chairman of the University Council and Rector

Vietnam National University, Hanoi has issued Decision No. 2179/QD-VNU on recognizing Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh, Party Secretary, Rector of the University of Science for the 2020-2025 term, to hold the position of Chairman of the Council of the University of Science for the 2023-2028 term; Decision No. 2316/QD-VNU on recognizing Professor, Doctor Le Thanh Son, Vice Rector of the University of Science for the 2020-2025 term, to hold the position of Rector of the University of Science for the 2025-2030 term.

According to the decisions, Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh will hold the position of Chairman of the Council of the University of Science for the 2023-2028 term from May 8, 2025; Professor, Doctor Le Thanh Son will hold the position of Rector of the University of Science for the 2025-2030 term from May 9, 2025.

Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh is a former student of the Mathematics major at Hanoi University of Science (now the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, under the University of Natural Sciences).

He studied at university and did research, defended his doctorate in Applied Mathematics (Computational Mathematics) in 1998 at the University of Budapest (Hungary). He was recognized as Associate Professor by the State Council of Professors in 2007, and recognized as Professor in 2022.

During the period 2009-2011, Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh did research under the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation program for experienced researchers at the Technical University of Berlin (Germany). He received his Doctor of Science (Habilitation) degree also from the Technical University of Berlin in 2014.

Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh has held the following positions: Head of the Faculty of Mathematics-Mechanics-Informatics; Vice Principal; Principal of the University of Natural Sciences. Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Hoang Linh is currently the President of the Vietnam Mathematical Society.

Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Son, Principal of University of Science

Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Son is a former student of the 32nd Course (1987-1992), Faculty of Chemistry, Hanoi National University. He studied for a Master's degree in Chemistry at Hanoi National University; for a PhD in Chemistry at Ehime University, Japan, majoring in Adsorption and Catalysis Chemistry. He was recognized as Associate Professor in 2007, and recognized as Professor in 2019.

Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Son has held many positions: Deputy Head of the Department of Petroleum Chemistry, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Chemistry, Head of the Faculty of Chemistry, Vice Rector of the University of Science. Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Son is Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Council of the University of Science. Professor, Dr. Le Thanh Son is currently Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Adsorption and Catalysis.
