"You have the right to be proud to be a student of one of the major universities of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City, with a history of more than 80 years of establishment and development. This place has a tradition of prestigious training and research in the fields of basic science and cutting-edge science. The entire school believes in your highest efforts and striving to accompany you on this important journey of knowledge" - the Principal of the University of Natural Sciences told the new students.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Quan, this school year, the school has opened new majors in microchip design and semiconductor technology. These two majors will enroll for the first time in 2024 but have attracted a large number of candidates to register for admission.

The University of Natural Sciences is currently training 29 majors at the undergraduate level. In the past academic year, the school has conducted ASIIN accreditation assessment for 12 undergraduate training programs, including 4 programs of the Faculty of Information Technology, 2 programs of the Faculty of Chemistry, 2 programs of the Faculty of Biology - Biotechnology, 2 programs of the Faculty of Environment, 1 program of the Faculty of Geology, 1 program of the Department of Oceanography , and the Faculty of Physics - Technical Physics. At the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Vice President of VNU-HCM, emphasized that in the context of climate change, natural disasters and epidemics, especially the consequences of the recent Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No. 3), it is necessary to deeply understand the role of science and technology in forecasting, minimizing risks and building a sustainable society. These are areas in which the University of Natural Sciences has great potential to develop and contribute.

The leaders of VNU-HCM hope that the school will continue to attract talents, develop new, interdisciplinary and attractive majors, focus on breakthrough research, meet the needs of science and technology development and national sustainable development. At the same time, the school needs to promote cooperation with member universities to effectively implement training programs, contributing to the overall development of the VNU-HCM system.
