A spectacular finale
A large crowd of fans flocked to the Nha Trang University stadium to cheer on the teams from the Water Resources University and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry in the final match, creating an incredibly vibrant atmosphere in the stands. Not only in the final match, but all the matches in the final round of the TNSV THACO Cup 2026 attracted the attention of fans in the beautiful coastal city of Nha Trang.
Journalist Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper , and Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament, shared: "Regardless of the final result, the biggest and sweetest victory we have achieved together is the pure love of students for football. That is the strength that unites thousands of hearts, creating a fiery atmosphere of youth that we will carry with us throughout our lives. We have concluded a final round full of surprises with professional quality exceeding expectations and unprecedentedly enthusiastic support from the audience."

The peak days of student football are not over yet, because after the THACO Cup 2026 Student Football Finals, also held at Nha Trang University, the International Student Football Tournament will take place (from March 28th to April 5th) with the participation of 6 teams, including 2 domestic teams and 4 international guest teams. The champion of the THACO Cup 2026 Student Football Tournament, the Water Resources University team, and the host team, Nha Trang University, are the two domestic representatives participating.

Crowned after two missed opportunities.
The clash between the University of Water Resources and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry was not just a simple football match, but also a high-level battle of wits between two opposing football philosophies.
From the very first minutes after the opening whistle, the Water Resources University, as the team considered stronger, proactively launched an overwhelming attack. The representatives from the North showed their ambition to increase the pace and play aggressively from the start in order to break down the disciplined defense of their opponent.
On the other side of the pitch, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry maintained its characteristic defensive style, dropping deep and providing tight cover to wait for the opponent's mistakes. However, the strength of Coach Vu Van Trung's team came not only from coordinated attacking plays, but also from their well-honed ability to capitalize on set pieces. In the 15th minute, from a throw-in on the right wing, center-back Do Huu Hai took advantage of the ball rebounding from a scramble, seizing the opportunity to unleash an extremely dangerous volley, sending the ball into the net, leaving the opposing goalkeeper helpless. The opening goal not only broke the deadlock but also forced Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry to abandon their proactive defensive play and push forward to find an equalizer, thus making the match much more exciting and open.

Throughout the first half and into the beginning of the second, the Water Resources University continued to showcase impressive technical skills with diverse attacking moves and superior ball control. In the 48th minute, the familiar scenario repeated itself with a well-executed play. From a free kick, Nguyen Hoang Danh delivered a precise cross into the penalty area for Tran Duc Hoan to double the lead for the Water Resources University. With a two-goal lead, Coach Vu Van Trung's team played even better, completely dominating the game with composure and skill. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry's players lost their agility. In the 52nd minute, Tran Duc Hoan continued to shine with a skillful chip shot to extend the lead to 3-0. This goal also propelled Duc Hoan to the top of the scoring charts with 4 goals since the start of the tournament.
For the remainder of the match, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry team, despite their efforts to attack and narrow the gap, were unsuccessful. In fact, the Water Resources University team even exploited a gap to score their fourth goal, courtesy of Ngo Duong Manh. The 4-0 victory in the final not only brought the prestigious championship trophy to the capital's representative but also affirmed the tactical and personnel superiority of Coach Vu Van Trung's team in this year's tournament. After two consecutive final appearances (2023 and 2024) where they finished as runners-up, the Water Resources University team won their first TNSV championship title with a convincing performance.

Representing the host institution were: Dr. Khong Trung Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nha Trang University; and Dr. Quach Hoai Nam, Rector of Nha Trang University.
