One discipline enrolls nearly 5.500 candidates!
According to the enrollment project in 2023, the University of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City is expected to enroll 10.000 students. While before that, in 2021, the school's target set was 1.610 (actually recruited 1.812 students) and in 2022 the target was 5.050 (actually recruited 5.053 students). Thus, the expected target of 2023 will double the previous year and increase more than 6 times compared to 2021.
Notably, the expected targets of many sectors and programs in 2023 increased sharply compared to the previous one.
For logistics and supply chain management alone, the university is expected to recruit 5.480 students, higher than the total target of the whole school last year (5.050). In which, this major includes two different majors and training programs: Logistics and supply chain management (specializing in logistics and high quality supply chain management) recruiting 4.680 candidates; Logistics and supply chain management (specialized in logistics management and multimodal transport, the program is taught entirely in English) recruited 800 candidates.
The number of targets expected in 2023 of the logistics and supply chain management industry increased sharply compared to previous years. In 2022, this industry has a target of 810 and actually recruits 824 students. In 2021, this industry target is only 60 and actually recruits 73 students.
Thus, the recruitment target of this school's logistics and supply chain management industry this year increased nearly 7 times compared to the previous year.
What is the opinion of the Ministry of Education and Training?
Talking to reporters Newspapers YouthDr. Pham Nhu Nghe, Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training), said that the university will request the school to report on the increase in quotas and conduct inspections to make timely adjustments in case of need.
According to Dr. Nghe, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued regulations on determining university enrollment targets in Circular 03 in 2022. At the end of April 4.2023, the Ministry of Education and Training continued to issue Circular 10 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular 03 related to this regulation. Accordingly, the enrollment quota is determined on the basis of the training capacity of the training institution; demand for human resources; the percentage of students in employment within a 12-month period from graduation; results of accreditation of training institutions; and enrollment results of the previous enrollment year adjacent to the year of quota determination and enrollment organization.
The Circular of the Ministry of Education and Training also stipulates specific cases where a training institution is not allowed to increase its quota compared to the previous enrollment year, including: being eligible for the time period when the school is not recognized as meeting the accreditation standard; the rate of students graduating after 12 months with jobs is less than 80%; the enrollment rate in the enrollment year immediately preceding the enrollment year is less than 80%.
"If not in the above cases, higher education institutions are entitled to increase their quotas but must ensure the quality of training," said Dr. Nghe.
Regarding the doubling of the enrollment target in 2 years of the University of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Nghe said that it is necessary to specifically review the quality assurance conditions of this school.
“Where the previous year, the school only determined the enrollment quota equal to half of the training capacity, this year doubling the quota is another case. If the school has registered the target close to the training capacity in the previous year, but this year still doubles the target, it should be questioned. Because it means doubling this target, the university must double the quality assurance conditions, such as the number of lecturers as prescribed, "said Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department.
According to the enrollment scheme, in 2023, the University of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City will apply for admission by 5 methods: reviewing academic records (50% of the target); direct recruitment according to the school's project (20% of the target); direct recruitment according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (1-2% of the target); consider the scores of the competency assessment exam organized by the Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (3-4% of the target); consider the scores of the high school graduation exam in 2023 (20% of the target).
