Over a freshly brewed cup of tea, Mr. Thang (born in 1988) shared: Like many other young people in the mountainous region, after finishing high school, he passed the entrance exam to Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, majoring in Cultural and Information Management at the grassroots level. After graduation, he left his hometown to search for job opportunities to support himself and his family. However, the jobs he took were not suitable for him. In 2021, he returned to his hometown and fate led him to a knife handle manufacturing workshop in Ba Thuoc commune. There, with his diligence and eagerness to learn, he not only quickly mastered the techniques but also proactively sought out and connected with suppliers. Recognizing this as a promising path, he decided to stay in his hometown to turn his dream of getting rich on his own land into reality. 2022 was a significant milestone; the owner of the knife handle manufacturing facility transitioned to a different profession. Seizing the opportunity, he discussed it with his family and boldly borrowed over 100 million VND to invest in specialized machinery such as splitting machines, cutting machines, and punching machines, opening a small production workshop right at home.
Thanks to a bold decision, persistent pursuit of his chosen goal, and the unwavering support of his family members, Mr. Thang's family knife handle manufacturing workshop is now operating stably. After a period of production and business, the stable income has allowed him to renovate his house, buy a truck and a car to serve his life and business. Currently, he uses his truck to purchase about 2 tons of raw materials from households daily and produces about 6,000 knife handles, creating jobs for 4 workers. Each week, he transports about 3 tons of finished knife handles to the knife-making village in Hoa Loc commune for delivery. After deducting all expenses, his family earns nearly 500 million VND per year. This is an incredibly impressive figure and a dream for many households in rural mountainous areas, and it also motivates him to continue reinvesting and expanding production.
Not only is he a successful businessman , but as the head of Suoi village, Mr. Thang also affirms his role as a "bridge" between the government and the people. The village currently has 44 households with 186 inhabitants. With a sense of responsibility, approachability, and flexible methods, Mr. Thang not only effectively disseminates and mobilizes villagers to implement the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws, but also actively guides people in developing the economy, building a cultural life, and strengthening unity within the community.
According to Nguyen The Nghi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thiet Ong Commune: "Mr. Bui Van Thang is a dynamic village head born in the 1980s, who dares to think, dares to act, and always proactively seeks new directions. His knife handle production facility serves as a guiding principle in the development of household economies in the locality. Not only is he a role model for successful entrepreneurship, but he is also an enthusiastic village official, trusted by the people. With his reputation and sense of responsibility, he is becoming a vibrant source of inspiration, spreading the will to overcome difficulties and the aspiration for legitimate wealth creation to the younger generation in the locality. Mr. Thang's knife handle production facility is a clear example that rural youth can absolutely become wealthy if they know how to leverage the advantages of their homeland and have the right path."
