Rain of goals against Brunei?

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/11/2024

Opportunity for Vietnam futsal team

A 2-0 victory over Malaysia helped the Vietnamese futsal team untie the knot on the way to the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian futsal championship. Thanks to two goals from Tu Minh Quang and Nguyen Thinh Phat, coach Diego Raul Giustozzi's team not only deciphered a tough opponent, but also moved closer to a ticket to the group stage.

After two matches, the Vietnamese futsal team rose to second place with 6 points. Thailand, with the same 6 points as Vietnam, ranked higher due to a better goal difference. The team coached by Miguel Rodrigo (who led Vietnam at the 2016 World Cup), beat Brunei 13-0, then defeated Timor Leste 7-1.

At 3:30 p.m. today (November 5), the Vietnamese futsal team will face Brunei. This is the weakest team in Group A of the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. Brunei lost 0-13 to Thailand and 0-11 to Malaysia. Brunei is currently at the bottom of the table with 0 points, 0 goals and 24 goals conceded.

Facing a weak opponent, combined with a relaxed mentality after overcoming Malaysia, the Vietnamese futsal team is capable of pouring goals into Brunei's net.

Mr. Giustozzi's calculations

Due to the tight match schedule (one match per day), coach Giustozzi also needs to carefully calculate the personnel to avoid overloading the key players.

The coach who won the futsal World Cup with Argentina shared: "We need to show a lot of respect to our opponents because they are a good team. I think Malaysia showed their best today and the Vietnamese futsal team also played to their best ability. The Vietnamese players played very well today in terms of both technique and tactics. This is very important because if we win tomorrow's match, we can advance to the semi-finals.

Vietnam futsal team can win big against Brunei

"In the first half we played well. In the second half I think Malaysia played better and I told my players to get back into the rhythm of the game. I have confidence in my team, I know my players."

Coach Giustozzi’s players are also playing better and better, gradually improving their coordination and finishing with each match. The Vietnamese futsal team is strong in controlling and creating opportunities, and the only obstacle is the ability to turn opportunities into goals.

The match against Brunei will be a good practice match for Vietnamese strikers, before playing against Thailand in the final round.
