From June 3-5: 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union

According to the plan, the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, for the term 2026-2031, will take place from June 3-5 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi. This is an important political event for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization, occurring in the context of the country continuing to accelerate industrialization, modernization, digital transformation, and deep international integration.

The Congress is taking place at a time when union members and workers nationwide are joining the entire Party, people, and army in implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party; the whole country has just successfully organized the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, consolidating state agencies and governments at all levels.

The Congress is of particular importance in guiding trade union activities, caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; and at the same time affirming the role of the Trade Union organization in building a modern and strong Vietnamese working class.

In preparation for the Congress, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has just issued a Decision on convening delegates to attend the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2026-2031.

According to the Decision, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) convened 780 official delegates to attend the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026-2031, from June 3-5 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi . Simultaneously, 51 delegations were established to attend the 14th National Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026-2031, based on the organizations of provincial and city labor federations, central industry trade unions, economic group trade unions, and general corporation trade unions under the VGCL.

Focus on developing a strong and comprehensive trade union organization.

According to the Draft Report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor presented at the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026-2031, the breakthroughs, programs, and projects to be implemented during the term include:

The motto of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the term 2026-2031 is "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Innovation - Development".

The Congress set forth the following objectives: Focus on developing union membership, perfecting the organizational model, and improving operational efficiency; invest resources and innovate methods in fulfilling the task of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; promote democracy in the workplace; intensify propaganda and mobilization of workers to innovate, pioneer the application of science and technology, build a new productive force, increase labor productivity, and contribute to building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy country.

Breakthrough phase:

- Improve the quality of trade union officials, especially full-time officials and chairpersons of grassroots trade unions.

- Strongly applying science and technology and digital transformation in trade union activities and promoting production and business.

Programme:

- Develop union membership, establish grassroots trade unions, and participate in Party building within enterprises.

- Innovate trade union financial management and improve member welfare.

- Trade unions work alongside the government to improve labor productivity and achieve double-digit growth targets.

Project proposal:

- Enhancing the effectiveness of dialogue, collective bargaining, and labor relations development during the period 2026-2031.

- Trade unions participate in developing new productive forces and promoting stable, income-generating jobs for workers.

- Digital transformation in trade union activities.

- Develop an open, flexible, and dynamic trade union organizational model.

Key tasks and solutions:

- Improve the effectiveness of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.

- Promote the role of trade unions at all levels in participating in state management, socio-economic management; and in participating in inspection, auditing, and supervision.

- To promote, educate, and encourage union members and workers to study and improve their professional skills, abide by the law, and contribute to building and protecting the Fatherland.

- Building a strong trade union organization, participating in building the Party and the political system, and expanding international cooperation on trade unions.

- Innovate working methods and improve the effectiveness of leadership at all levels of trade unions.

The 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union marks a new stage of development for the trade union organization in the era of national progress. Building on the glorious traditions of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization, trade union officials, members, and workers nationwide unite, upholding the spirit of innovation, creativity, self-reliance, and determination to overcome all difficulties and challenges, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, practically moving towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation; striving to make Vietnam a developed, high-income country by the middle of the 21st century, for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.
