May has arrived again in Kim Lien, my homeland. Among the crowds respectfully heading towards the 2026 Lotus Village Festival, there is not only a profound gratitude towards President Ho Chi Minh but also a spreading spirit of innovation, a will to rise, and the aspiration for development of Nghe An province in this new era.
Over 45 years of formation and development, from "Singing from Lang Sen Village," "Lang Sen Village Singing Festival" to the Lang Sen Village Festival today, the event has become a special cultural and political space bearing the strong imprint of Ho Chi Minh, a place connecting tradition with modernity, so that the values of his ideology, morality, and style continue to spread in social life.
This year's festival coincides with the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), in the context of the country entering a new stage of development with aspirations for strength and prosperity... From President Ho Chi Minh's homeland, the message of self-reliance, self-strength, innovation, and sustainable development is conveyed through many political, cultural, artistic, and tourism activities.
The highlight of the 2026 Lotus Village Festival is the awarding of the First-Class Labor Medal to the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site and its official recognition as a National Tourist Area... This is not only an acknowledgment of the special historical and cultural values of the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, but also opens up new opportunities for Nghe An to develop cultural tourism and heritage tourism associated with heritage preservation.
This year's festival space also showcased innovation in organization and public engagement. The art program "Lotus in the New Era," comprising three chapters: Lotus Blooming in the Homeland, Footprints of the Era, and Enduring Fragrance, was elaborately staged, combining tradition and modernity to create a continuous flow between the past, present, and future.
Among the crowds flocking to Sen Village in May, many locals expressed their emotion at the solemn atmosphere of this year's festival. Ms. Le Thi Huyen (Kim Bang commune, Nghe An province) shared that the recognition of Kim Lien as a National Tourist Area deeply moved and filled her with pride, and she hoped her hometown would continue to develop while preserving its sacred cultural and historical values.
Present at the opening ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Loan (Le Thuy commune, Quang Tri province) said: "The atmosphere here is very solemn, intimate, and full of emotion. Every time I return to Uncle Ho's hometown, I feel more clearly the patriotic spirit, the simplicity, and the noble values that Uncle Ho left for the nation."
From gratitude to development action
In the sacred atmosphere of the Lotus Village Festival, Nghe An's aspirations for development are not only present in cultural spaces but also concretized through strategic projects. Alongside the festival's opening ceremony, Nghe An simultaneously announced and commenced key projects such as the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant and the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway... These projects not only create momentum for infrastructure, energy, and regional economic development but also demonstrate the determination to realize the aspiration of making Nghe An a growth hub of the North Central region.
Specifically, the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project in Tan Mai ward has a total investment of over 59,372 billion VND, a capacity of 1,500MW, and is included in the Power Development Plan VIII, opening up space for green industrial development in the North Central region... Meanwhile, the Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway, approximately 60km long, with a total investment of 23,940 billion VND, plays a crucial role in connecting the East-West economic corridor between Vietnam and Laos.
Previously, the Nine-Tiered Waterfall at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan - the mother of President Ho Chi Minh - was also inaugurated on the occasion of his birthday... The project carries profound gratitude for the contributions of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan in raising and nurturing him, and at the same time contributes to completing the cultural and historical space at the Kim Lien Special National Historical Site.
According to Thai Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, the commencement of key projects on this occasion not only creates further impetus for the development of infrastructure, transportation, energy, and investment attraction, but also serves as "the most concrete and practical report" that the Party Committee, government, and people of Nghe An offer to President Ho Chi Minh on his birthday.
According to the leaders of Nghe An province, from the Lotus Village Festival, the cultural heritage values of Ho Chi Minh, along with the image of a friendly, compassionate, and distinctive Nghe An, will continue to spread widely to the people and tourists both domestically and internationally. At the same time, the province will continue to promote the spirit of unity and innovation, taking advantage of the attention and support from the central government and other localities to create breakthroughs in development, realizing the aspiration to make Nghe An "one of the most prosperous provinces in the North," as President Ho Chi Minh always instructed during his lifetime.
From Lang Sen village today, Ho Chi Minh's cultural values continue to spread as a sustainable spiritual resource, contributing to the awakening of national self-reliance, fostering faith, and inspiring the breakthrough development journey of Nghe An as well as the country in the new era.
