From January 1, 2025, the three communes of Dai Ban, An Hong, and An Hung of An Duong district will be merged into Hong Bang district.

(Haiphong.gov.vn) - The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued Resolution No. 1232/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Hai Phong city for the period 2023 - 2025.

In which, Hong Bang district and its wards are arranged as follows: Adjust the total natural area of 11.56 km2, population size of 20,857 people of Dai Ban commune, the total natural area of 8.31 km2, population size of 15,381 people of An Hong commune and the total natural area of 5.48 km2, population size of 15,287 people of An Hung commune of An Duong district to merge into Hong Bang district. After arrangement, establish 03 wards An Hong, An Hung, Dai Ban on the basis of the total natural area, population size of 03 communes An Hong, An Hung, Dai Ban.

Merge the entire natural area of 1.05 km2, population of 15,123 people of Ha Ly ward and the entire natural area of 0.43 km2, population of 12,047 people of Trai Chuoi ward into Thuong Ly ward. After merging, Thuong Ly ward has a natural area of 2.98 km2 and a population of 47,646 people.

Resolution No. 1232/NQ-UBTVQH15 takes effect from January 1, 2025. After adjustment, Hong Bang district has a natural area of 39.77 km2 and a population of 177,820 people; has 10 wards, including: An Hong, An Hung, Dai Ban, Hoang Van Thu, Hung Vuong, Minh Khai, Phan Boi Chau, Quan Toan, So Dau and Thuong Ly.

Looking from the orientation of urban space development of Hai Phong, it can be seen that the adjustment of the boundaries to expand Hong Bang district is an objective practical requirement and consistent with the urban development orientation of the whole city. In Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045, "researching and expanding urban space" is identified as one of the key and key tasks. Therefore, the adjustment of administrative unit boundaries to expand Hong Bang district is an appropriate step to concretize the Resolution of the Politburo . Taking off the cramped urban shirt, the development space of the district is expanded to help reduce pressure on infrastructure as well as population density on the existing inner city area; creating the premise for developing Hong Bang into a green, civilized, modern commercial and service urban area; Maintain the position and role of the district leading the socio-economic development of the city; contribute to building Hai Phong into a modern industrial city, a key marine economic center of the country.
