Self-reflection and self-correction are essential for setting a good example.

The most dangerous thing is that the bad character of a party member or official will harm the Party and the people. Corrupt party members will lead the masses to corruption. Therefore, officials and party members must self-examine, self-correct, and practice diligence, frugality, integrity, and honesty to set an example for the people.

Self-reflection and self-correction are understood as looking at oneself, evaluating and assessing oneself in both perception and action to identify mistakes and weaknesses, thereby finding the causes and solutions to prevent, overcome, and correct them; it is like diagnosing oneself and prescribing medicine to save oneself. When we talk about self-reflection and self-correction, we are referring to the voluntary, conscious, courageous, and open-minded approach to one's limitations, shortcomings, bad habits, and vices. This is considered a challenging and difficult task, due to pride, habit, or many other reasons. It could also be because of fear of losing face or reputation, not daring to "reveal one's flaws," fearing being accused of "slapping oneself in the face." This is a revolution taking place within oneself, a struggle between good and evil in each person, a test of character when faced with the choice between emotion and reason, between open-mindedness and conservatism, between honor, revolutionary ideals and personal or family interests; it is a real challenge that demands that each person who wants to progress must be honest, truthful, highly determined, and courageous enough to overcome themselves.

It can be affirmed that self-reflection and self-correction are essential for protecting one's "personal honor" and the "reputation of the collective." As General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once said, for cadres and Party members, "honor is the most sacred and precious thing." Honor is one of the noblest qualities of each individual, recognized not only by society but also by law and protected. A person's honor and reputation cannot be measured or bought with material things; it is not acquired suddenly or in an instant, but must be cultivated through a process of diligent self-cultivation and training; it is built by each individual themselves, and no one can do it for them. It is tested through the practical realities of each person's daily life. A person with honor and self-respect is always upright and honest, fighting against wrongdoing and defending what is right, rather than "hiding" and only thinking of themselves; they are never arrogant or complacent with their achievements.

Therefore, self-reflection and self-correction contribute to protecting and maintaining the honor and reputation that each individual and organization needs to diligently build. Those who practice self-reflection and self-correction effectively will always protect themselves from thoughts, words, and actions that tarnish their honor and reputation, and will always receive the trust and respect of others. When the honor of each individual is protected, the reputation of the collective will be preserved.

In his Testament, President Ho Chi Minh instructed: "Every Party member and cadre must truly internalize revolutionary ethics, truly practice diligence, frugality, integrity, and impartiality." According to him: "Diligence, frugality, and integrity are the roots of righteousness." And cadres and Party members "who do not uphold diligence, frugality, integrity, and righteousness will easily become corrupt, turning into parasites of the people."

Imbued with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, every cadre and Party member must constantly examine themselves to see if they have truly upheld the principles of "diligence, thrift, integrity, and righteousness." They must always remember and practice these principles. Party members must engrave in their minds that, along with the things Party members are prohibited from doing according to the Party's regulations and charter, there are many things Party members are forbidden from doing because their conscience and morality dictate their actions; because national ethics forbid them. These are the sacred, profound, and enduring principles that create unwavering faith. Party members, in addition to being loyal to the Party, must also be loyal to the country, to the nation, and be responsible to themselves.
