In 2004, young Nguyen Van Kinh began his life as a construction worker, a strenuous but common job in the countryside. Nearly a decade into the profession, he not only learned diligence and meticulousness but also quietly accumulated experience and nurtured his own aspirations.
During his work trips to Hue City, he noticed the production of concrete blocks, a popular building material, and recognized its potential for development in his hometown. “At that time, no one in my village was making concrete blocks. Seeing others succeed, I thought to myself, why not give it a try?” Mr. Kinh shared. That decision marked a turning point in his life.
In 2012, he boldly invested 52 million VND to buy a brick-making machine from Hue City, setting up a production area right at his home. With limited capital, he minimized costs, personally installed the machinery, sourced sand and gravel from Quang Tri town, and transported it to his production facility. Besides making and selling bricks, he also sold construction materials such as sand, gravel, and cement. As the number of orders increased, he continued to invest in trucks to transport raw materials and distribute products directly to customers.
Thanks to his diligence, hard work, and reputation, Mr. Kinh's production facility has expanded significantly. In 2017, he invested in an additional truck worth approximately 200 million VND to support production, bringing his total investment to over 450 million VND. As a result, his workshop can now produce around 800 concrete blocks per day, meeting the construction needs of neighboring communes such as Hai Son, Hai Truong, Hai Phong, and Hai Chanh.
Not only does he create quality products, but he also contributes to providing employment for many local workers. Currently, his facility employs 5 permanent workers, with a stable income of 300,000 VND per person per day. This is a decent source of income in a rural area still facing many difficulties.
To meet the ever-increasing demands of customers, Mr. Kinh constantly improves the molds and resizes the bricks to suit house foundations, fences, gardens, etc. “People are building more houses now, and they need large, strong, and beautiful bricks. Therefore, I have to change to avoid falling behind. Establishing a life and career in the countryside isn't easy, but once you've found the right path, you have to persevere and not give up halfway,” Mr. Kinh said.
Each year, after deducting expenses, his business earns about 80 million VND in profit. The amount isn't huge, but it's enough to maintain a stable life and provide motivation for further progress.
Besides being a successful businessman , Mr. Kinh is also actively involved in social work. Since 2017, he has been elected as the Deputy Secretary of the Dong Son Village Youth Union. From July 2024 to the present, he has also taken on the role of village security officer, a role that demands a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the community. Despite his busy work schedule, he still dedicates time to participating in community activities, maintaining security and order in the village, and becoming one of the key figures in the local new rural development movement.
When asked about his future plans, Mr. Kinh expressed his desire to expand production, invest in more equipment, premises, and human resources. However, the biggest challenge currently is the lack of capital. He hopes to receive support in accessing preferential loans or industrial promotion programs to realize his dream, create more jobs for the people, and contribute to the local economic development.
