On July 20, more than 50 union members and young people in Tam Thanh ward cleaned and decorated the martyrs' cemetery in the ward. Here, union members and young people swept the walkways, pulled weeds, collected trash, replaced flower vases, took care of and trimmed every tree in the yard. Under the sweltering heat of summer, each union member and young person diligently performed the silent act of gratitude, holding a clean towel in their hands and gently wiping each grave. Each person expressed their respect and deep gratitude to the martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.
In Cao Loc commune, union members and young people participated in the activity "Repaying gratitude" at the family of Mr. Ly Van Chap, Ban Gieng village, a policy family. Not only these activities, since the beginning of July 2025, the Youth Union organizations in the province have organized and implemented many "gratitude" activities towards the families of heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers, and people with meritorious services in the province. Each action, though small, contains great affection from the young generation to the previous generations.
Mr. Doan Thanh Cong, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union, Head of the Youth Union and Children's Affairs Department of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: In recent times, the propaganda and education of revolutionary traditions have been regularly focused on by the Youth Union at all levels through the activities of the Youth Union branches, associations, and Children's Stars. In parallel, gratitude activities such as visiting, giving gifts, and supporting working days for families of war invalids, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious services have been maintained regularly. In particular, July is identified by us as the "month of gratitude" with many simultaneous, practical, and meaningful activities organized.
To foster patriotism, national pride and self-respect for union members and children in the province, the youth union at all levels has increased propaganda about the history of the struggle for national liberation, the revolutionary tradition of the homeland and the country through the activities of the union branches, associations, and children's star activities. The union bases also actively responded to the campaign "Proud of a strip of land", organized the contest "Designing a map of Vietnam", performed "Vietnamese youth marching forward - Will win", and assembled a map of Vietnam with the participation of a large number of union members and children. At the same time, the union bases also organized a journey to the red address, "A warm and loving reunion meal" at the families of martyrs and wounded soldiers; simultaneously offered incense, flowers and lit candles in gratitude at cemeteries and memorials... These specific activities contributed to educating the younger generation about patriotism and national pride.
Youth Unions at all levels also proactively coordinate with local authorities to learn about the circumstances of families of war invalids, martyrs, and families with meritorious services, and on that basis propose appropriate solutions to help. Especially in July, gratitude activities took place enthusiastically, such as: visiting and giving gifts; supporting working days for harvesting agricultural products, repairing houses; providing free medical examination and treatment, providing medicine to war invalids, families with meritorious services, cleaning martyrs' cemeteries, memorials, etc., contributing to the good implementation of policies for people with meritorious services.
From 2024 to present, the Youth Union at all levels has organized more than 50 activities to clean and take care of memorial sites and martyr cemeteries; twice simultaneously organized incense offering, flower offering and candle lighting in gratitude at more than 3,100 graves of heroic martyrs resting in the province with over 20,000 union members and young people participating. On the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27, the Youth Union from the province visited and presented gifts to over 1,430 families of war invalids, sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and people with meritorious services. In July 2025 alone, the Youth Union organized 71 volunteer youth teams to clean and offer incense at 12 cemeteries and memorials in the province. Ms. Luong Thi Pao (wife of martyr Nong Ngoc Thanh), Tran Quang Khai 2 block, Luong Van Tri ward said: Every July, my family welcomes the children of the Youth Union and young people to visit, help clean the house, cook together, and gather around a simple meal. For me, there is nothing happier than having the children visit, encourage and help me when I encounter difficulties in life.
The gratitude activities of the youth of the whole province, though small but persistent, not only contribute to easing the wounds of war, accompanying the families of war invalids, martyrs, and people with meritorious services in life, but also educate the young generation about revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, thereby actively studying, training, devoting youth, contributing to building an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland.
