Young people take action for a green environment.

QTO - Leveraging the pioneering and proactive role of young people, in recent times, youth union members in the province have proactively and flexibly implemented many projects and tasks, making a positive contribution to environmental protection and climate change adaptation.

According to Tran Thi Nga, Secretary of the Truong Ninh Commune Youth Union, recognizing environmental protection as a regular and long-term activity contributing to a healthy living environment and a bright, green, clean, and beautiful rural landscape, the Truong Ninh Commune Youth Union has directed its branches to promote their pioneering and volunteer roles in undertaking projects and tasks, and organizing propaganda activities to raise awareness of environmental protection and climate change adaptation among young people.

Environmental protection models and activities are implemented extensively and diversely through "Green Sunday" and "Volunteer Saturday" with specific tasks such as: environmental sanitation, village and hamlet beautification; building and maintaining youth-managed roads that meet the criteria of being bright, green, clean, and beautiful; cleaning historical sites, and caring for martyrs' cemeteries...

During the period 2022-2025, the Truong Ninh Commune Youth Union organized 235 environmental sanitation campaigns in residential areas, youth-managed roads, and martyrs' cemeteries, collecting over 150 tons of waste; at the same time, they successfully built the model "Reducing plastic waste in residential market areas," bringing practical results and contributing to waste reduction and environmental protection.

To make environmental protection activities more effective, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has actively directed grassroots youth union branches to strengthen propaganda work and raise awareness among youth union members about environmental protection; coordinating the organization of activities such as: World Water Day, World Environment Day, the Clean Up the Sea Campaign…

With the motto "Each youth union branch carries out a practical activity to participate in environmental protection," the youth union branches have implemented many tasks, such as: taking responsibility for self-managed traffic routes; building bright, green, clean, and beautiful agencies and units; developing and replicating youth models and projects for environmental protection; mobilizing youth union members to reduce the use of plastic bags, sort and process household waste... Notable examples include: Nam Trach commune youth union implementing the "Exchange books, exchange plastic for gifts" model, Sen Ngu commune youth union implementing a model where youth union members collect scrap materials to support students in difficult circumstances...

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union directed all levels of the Youth Union throughout the province to simultaneously launch the "Green Sunday" campaign, carrying out cleaning, sanitation, beautification, replacing flowers, and offering incense at 157 martyrs' cemeteries, 66 memorial plaques, and 5 martyrs' memorials; clearing weeds, collecting waste, removing illegal advertisements, cleaning youth-managed roads, cultural center grounds, and public works to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape; planting trees and caring for shade trees at cemeteries, historical sites, and schools...

In addition, youth union branches at all levels in the province have effectively implemented environmental protection and climate change response activities through organizing activities in response to the "Tree Planting Festival in memory of Uncle Ho" in conjunction with the Youth Month campaign... Furthermore, youth union branches have actively coordinated with associations, organizations, and educational institutions to organize many activities to raise awareness about environmental protection, the harmful effects of littering, and good practices in recycling plastic waste so that students understand and enhance their awareness of preserving and protecting the environment.

According to Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Provincial Children's Council, Dinh Trung Hieu, in 2025, the Youth Union at all levels established 78 youth volunteer teams to collect waste in residential areas; cleaned and cleared 100% of village roads and alleys; cleaned the environment, eliminated waste hotspots, collected and processed more than 130 tons of waste; launched campaigns to clean 35km of coastline, and planted 383,000 new trees…

Each project and task not only affirms the role of youth union members in environmental protection, climate change response, and contributing to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas, but also helps spread a positive lifestyle to the community, thereby forming an environmentally friendly and nature-friendly lifestyle.

Through effective and practical approaches from all levels of the Youth Union, and the active participation of young people in environmental protection and climate change response, a bright, green, clean, and beautiful environment has been created along village roads and alleys throughout the province. This has contributed positively to promoting the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the localities.
