Early in the morning, Mr. Vang Van Chieu, the owner of a freight transport business in Bac Ha commune, Lao Cai province, loaded his truck with agricultural products to transport to Lao Cai ward. Having been involved in the transport business for many years, he clearly feels the changes since the road connecting Lang Giang bridge with National Highway 70 was put into use.
According to Mr. Chieu, in the past, each shipment required careful planning of time and cost. Many winding roads and high traffic density often resulted in longer-than-expected delivery times. There were numerous instances of delayed deliveries, impacting customers' business operations.
For those in the transportation industry, time is synonymous with cost. Every hour saved on the route means more opportunities to secure new shipments, improving business efficiency. Therefore, the new route is not just a simple transportation project, but also a "lever" to facilitate the production and business activities of the people.
The benefits from the new route are not limited to the transportation sector; they are evident in everyday life.
Mr. Nong Van Bien, from Xuan Hoa commune, Lao Cai province, said that his family takes their children to visit their maternal grandparents in Sa Pa ward at least twice a month. Since the road connecting National Highway 70 with Lang Giang bridge was completed, travel has become much more convenient. Mr. Bien shared:

Along the road passing through Bao Thang commune, the sight of students in their uniforms going to school by bicycle or electric scooter has become familiar.
Doan Quoc Hieu, a student from Bao Thang commune, still remembers the time before the road was completed. Whenever it rained, going to school became difficult because many sections were muddy and slippery. Students had to leave earlier to avoid being late for class.
Behind the simple joy of the schoolboy lie the practical values that transportation infrastructure brings to education . Well-invested roads not only help students get to school more safely but also provide peace of mind for families and teachers, facilitating teaching and learning activities.
The road connecting Lang Giang Bridge to National Highway 70, invested by the Department of Construction of Lao Cai province, has been under construction since 2023. The project has a total investment of over 236 billion VND, a length of over 13 km, and passes through 5 villages of Bao Thang commune and 7 villages of Xuan Quang commune. The road is designed according to mountainous road standards of class IV, with a roadbed width of 7.5 m and a road surface width of 5.5 m.
The completion of the road from Lang Giang Bridge to National Highway 70 contributes to the completion of the regional transportation network, increasing connectivity between Bao Thang, Bac Ha, and Bao Yen communes with Cam Duong and Lao Cai wards. As a result, the transportation of goods, passenger traffic, and economic trade will be more convenient.
It's easy to see that traffic volume on this route is increasing. Many vehicles carrying agricultural products, construction materials, and consumer goods choose this route to shorten their journeys. These trucks transporting goods from the highlands to the central areas and vice versa are contributing to a more vibrant economic flow.

Beyond simply serving transportation needs, the route also opens up new development opportunities for the localities along its length.
In Xuan Quang commune, the local government has proactively developed economic development strategies based on the advantages of the new transportation infrastructure.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Quang commune, said: "With improved transportation and enhanced connectivity to central areas, this creates favorable conditions for attracting investment. The locality has planned small-scale industrial zones along the route to effectively exploit this advantage, create jobs, and promote socio-economic development."
That expectation is entirely based on practical grounds because in many localities, when transportation infrastructure is invested in comprehensively, production, business, service, and tourism activities all have the conditions to develop more strongly.
Transportation has always been considered one of the most important factors in attracting investment and creating momentum for development. From the Lang Giang bridge to National Highway 70, the new route is becoming a crucial link between regions, connecting potential with opportunities. Not only does it shorten journeys, but the project also contributes to opening up socio-economic development, improving people's lives, and creating a new look for the area in the coming years.
