(HNMO) - On June 6, the Vietnamese women's team had the first training session, kicking off the training tour in Europe to prepare for the Women's World Cup Final. Sharing about this plan, coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the training conditions here will be suitable for the players to improve their fitness and learn more, to be ready for the first time participating in the most prestigious women's football tournament in the world.
The training plans in Germany and Poland were calculated early and carefully prepared by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the coaching staff to ensure the best conditions for athletes before the big tournament that the Vietnamese women's team participates in for the first time.
“Recently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also advised the whole team not to set big ambitions at the Women's World Cup, but there are still requirements for athletes. Our level is not yet on par with our competitors at the tournament, this is also the first time participating, so we will keep the athletes' spirits at ease but still have professional requirements. After the upcoming tournament, we also have ASIAD and the 2nd Qualifier of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which is also the goal of the team this year. We need to go further. In the following years, Vietnamese football needs to gradually improve, with better achievements to meet the requirements of leaders and the expectations of fans across the country, "said coach Mai Duc Chung.
The first training session of the Vietnamese women's team took place at the Sommerdamm Russelsheim stadium, a 15-minute bus ride from the team's station. At the first training session, the coaching staff had the athletes practice team coordination exercises and group tactics. In addition, coach Mai Duc Chung and his associates also gave the students more speed training. “I want our athletes to coordinate quickly on two-thirds of the field, play tight defensively and counterattack quickly. When we win the ball, we have to attack quickly on the opponent's field," said coach Mai Duc Chung.
The Vietnamese women's team will have 3 weeks of training in Germany and Poland with 4 friendly matches against top European clubs and teams. Every day, the team will have a light training session in the morning and a main training session in the afternoon.
