Propagating the implementation of cultural lifestyle in funerals of Mong ethnic people

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of August 21, the provincial Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions coordinated with the Border Guard Command (Provincial Military Command), the Provincial Police, and Son Thuy commune to organize a conference to propagate the implementation of cultural lifestyle in funerals in the Mong ethnic minority region in 2025.

Comrade Cam Ba Tuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Attending the event were 177 delegates including leaders of the Commune People's Committee, commune officials, mass organizations; village and hamlet officials, prestigious people and representatives of Mong households in the two villages of Mua Xuan and Xia Noi, Son Thuy commune.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, comrade Cam Ba Tuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of the province, assessed the outstanding results in implementing cultural lifestyle in funerals of the Mong ethnic group in Thanh Hoa province according to the Project on propaganda to implement cultural lifestyle in funerals of the Mong ethnic group in Thanh Hoa province until 2020, according to Decision No. 2181/QD-UBND dated June 25, 2013 of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, advised and built by the Ethnic Minorities Committee of Thanh Hoa province (now the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions of the province) (referred to as Project 2181).

The new funeral lifestyle is gradually becoming a habit, the Mong people are increasingly raising their awareness and clearly seeing the benefits of organizing civilized and economical funerals. In order to continue to bring the organization of funerals according to the new sustainable cultural lifestyle among the Mong people, while preserving good traditional cultural values, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued Plan No. 60/KH-UBND dated March 19, 2021 on propaganda to implement cultural lifestyle in funerals in the Mong people's area, period 2021-2025 (abbreviated as Plan No. 60).

The Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions hopes that the local Party Committee and government of Son Thuy commune, cadres and people of the two villages of Mua Xuan and Xia Noi will continue to maintain and implement the new lifestyle in funerals, maintaining the achievements according to the goals set out in Project 2181 and Plan No. 60 of the Provincial People's Committee.

The reporter representing the Provincial Police conveyed some contents of some plots, methods, tricks, and activities that take advantage of ethnic and religious issues to violate national security.

The conference took place over 2 days (August 21-22), with reporters from the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Provincial Police and comrade Lau Minh Po, former Deputy Secretary of the Muong Lat District Party Committee (former), conveying the contents of the Party and State's guidelines and policies on implementing a cultural lifestyle in funerals; mobilizing Mong people to eliminate backward customs and practices, building a healthy and civilized cultural environment; mobilizing the implementation of building cultural villages, cultural families, and building new rural areas in the Mong ethnic minority areas of the province.
