VHO - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that on the morning of November 13, the Vietnamese football team arrived at Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ) to travel to Manila (Philippines), preparing to play the opening match of Group F of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia against the host team Philippines on November 16.

On this trip, the Vietnamese team has 28 players from the shortlist of 32 names that have gathered since November 6. Accordingly, 3 players had to say goodbye: defender Luong Duy Cuong, midfielder Pham Van Luan and Le Van Do. Previously, the first player not included in the plan to compete in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers this time by head coach Philippe Troussier was also announced yesterday, November 11, that is defender Truong Tien Anh.
The Vietnamese team will have two official matches in November, which are the opening match of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup with a trip to the Philippines on November 16 and returning home to welcome Iraq 5 days later (November 21).
Coach Philippe Troussier and his students are expected to have a difficult trip.
Head coach Philippe Troussier shared: “The whole team is fully aware of the importance of the upcoming match. Over the past time, we have focused on training and are ready to face the challenge. The whole team is determined to make continuous efforts for the progress of Vietnamese football with the highest goal being the World Cup. We hope to continue to receive support from everyone.”
The Vietnamese team will play against the host Philippines on the artificial turf field at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila. After arriving in the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will have 3 more training sessions to get used to the weather and field conditions, determined to win the opening match. Before that, during the training days in Hanoi, head coach Philippe Troussier also deployed a training program on the artificial turf field to help his players adapt well when playing at the Rizal Memorial Stadium of the host team.
