(Dan Tri) - 21 sports talents have just graduated from the University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). This is the first graduating class of the Business Administration Program for sports talents.

On August 3, the University of Economics awarded graduation certificates to more than 1,500 new PhDs, Masters, and Bachelors, in various training fields/specializations.

Among them, there are 21 new graduates of the first batch of the Business Administration Program for Sports Talents.

In 2025, the school has 4 talented sports students graduating with excellent results, including: Nguyen Thanh Duy, Karate athlete; Nguyen Thu Hoai, Dancesport athlete; Dinh Thi Thuy Nhung and Chu Hoang Phuc, badminton athletes.

Expressing gratitude to teachers and family at the graduation ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Duy, the owner of a series of gold, silver and bronze medals in national and Southeast Asian sports competitions, GPA 3.69, graduating with honors in 2025, said that 4 years of university is not too long but helps students acquire valuable knowledge, as a solid foundation for the future.

"Under the dedicated guidance of teachers, the generation of students will grow up and acquire all the knowledge and skills to become global citizens," Thanh Duy said.

Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, said that the special talent program for sports talents provides extensive knowledge for athletes, contributing to solving their employment problems after finishing their competitive careers.

The program helps provide high-quality human resources with extensive expertise in the fields of sports management, sports business, sports event communication, etc.; helping students gain management and foreign language skills and the ability to integrate internationally.

"I hope the knowledge you learn from the University of Economics will help you apply it usefully to the country's sports industry.

Vietnam's sports industry currently has 44 national sports federations and associations, professional sports clubs..., ready to welcome students to come for internships and work," said Ms. Yen.

Previously, in order to create conditions for athletes to integrate and find suitable job opportunities after completing their national duties, the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) coordinated with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement a university training program in Business Administration for sports talents.

This is a pioneering training program, built and developed specifically for professional athletes; providing athletes with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and practical lessons in the field of business administration and sports business, expanding career development opportunities after finishing their competitive career.

Right from the first course, the program has attracted the participation of many professional athletes, including prominent names such as athlete Nguyen Quang Hai, Vietnam Golden Ball 2018, best player in Southeast Asia 2019; athlete Quach Thi Lan, who won 2 gold medals at SEA Games 30. Notably, Quach Thi Lan and Nguyen Quang Hai are 2 athletes who received full scholarships thanks to their excellent performance and early registration.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Le Trung Thanh, Principal of the University of Economics, said that in 2025, the school has made many remarkable advances. The field of Business and Management Sciences increased by 100 places compared to 2024, reaching the 451-500 group in the world. The field of Economics and Econometrics increased by 50 places, in the 401-450 group globally. Notably, the field of Accounting and Finance was ranked 371 in the world for the first time.

Recently, the school received ACBSP quality accreditation certification for its training programs.

The school principal also sent a message to the new graduates: “When we look back on the journey we have taken, remember that each step and each challenge has made us stronger and more mature.

Be proud of what you have achieved and continue to strive, build your dreams for the future with a new start from today.

You will indeed face new challenges, but at the same time, there will be vast new opportunities. To overcome these challenges and take advantage of these opportunities, you need to continue to strive, constantly learn, and always maintain a strong spirit and determination in all activities," said the school principal.
