Daegu FC vs Barcelona form
Daegu FC are getting some impressive results in their Asian tour. A few days ago, the team under the direction of coach Hansi Flick won a resounding 7-3 victory over FC Seoul. That was a match in which the reigning La Liga champions showed their absolute superiority.
Blaugrana had 73% ball possession, launched nearly 20 shots with nearly 70% on target. Doubles from Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and the remaining goals from Lewandowski, Christensen and Gavi were enough for Barca to continue to extend their perfect record.
Before that, the Spanish champions also easily defeated Vissel Kobe with a score of 3-1. In general, coach Flick and his team had no difficulty in creating an overwhelming game against the underdogs.
The attack line still played very effectively and "scored" regularly. Perhaps, there were some flaws in the defense aspect, when they conceded 4 goals in 2 matches, 3 against FC Seoul and 1 against Vissel Kobe.
However, defense has never been a strong point for Barcelona under Flick. Moreover, the nature of the matches being only friendly also partly causes the gaps in the back line to be dissected, analyzed in a gentle way, and lessons learned.
It would not be surprising if Yamal and his teammates continue to create another magnificent victory. Because the opponent in the upcoming match of Barca is even showing a weaker face compared to the two previous light challenges.
Daegu FC was only established in 2002, making it one of the youngest teams in K.League 1. In the last three seasons, the southeastern Korean team has only finished 8th, 6th and 11th (out of 12 teams). Entering this season, the risk of relegation is looming before coach Park Chang-hyun and his team.
After 24 rounds, Daegu FC has only won 3, drawn 5 and lost 16, temporarily ranking bottom of the table with 14 points, 13 points behind the position above. The only direct relegation is probably difficult to escape from the hands of the team at Daegu iM Bank Park.
Before the clash with Barca, Daegu FC went through a series of 12 matches without knowing the taste of victory, only drawing 3 and losing 9. Obviously with the current disastrous form, without even taking the field, fans can easily imagine a one-sided scenario leaning towards the giant from Europe.
Facing an opponent far inferior in class, Barcelona will likely still field their strongest lineup. Of course, like in previous matches, coach Flick will give all of his players a chance to test the lineup. According to the plan, Barca will soon return to Spain to prepare for the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como on August 10.
