On October 25, the Kinshasa City government - Congo and Vingroup Corporation (Vingroup) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in research and development of large-scale urban projects and green transportation.
Accordingly, the two sides will cooperate in researching and developing a large-scale riverside urban project on an area of approximately 6,300 hectares, converting more than 300,000 gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles; establishing an electric bus system and charging station infrastructure.
The mega-urban project is part of the Kinshasa expansion plan, located between the south bank of the Congo River and north of N'djii International Airport. The project includes houses, villas, apartments, hospitals, schools, shopping centers, hotels, entertainment areas, government agencies, and future ministries.
The project aims to develop a modern urban center, contributing to an improved quality of life, transforming the urban landscape, becoming a tourist destination, and a new symbol of development for Kinshasa. Notably, Congo granted Vingroup free land for the project.

Representatives of Vingroup and Kinshasa City government signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in Congo.
In addition, Congo is also expanding cooperation with Vingroup on green transportation projects, including the development of electric bus systems, electric taxis, and charging stations operated by VinFast and GSM.
Specifically, Vingroup will provide VinFast electric buses and support the construction and operation of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines. VinFast will supply suitable vehicle models and gradually replace more than 300,000 fossil fuel vehicles with Kinshasa's electric vehicles.
Kinshasa is committed to providing land for the construction of charging station infrastructure, aiming to promote the green transformation of the entire city.
Vingroup's Vice President, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, stated that the group is delighted to partner with the Kinshasa city government in improving the quality of life for its residents. With experience in developing numerous world-class megacities and building electrified transportation networks, Vingroup is confident in contributing to transforming the urban landscape and promoting sustainable development in Kinshasa and Congo.
Kinshasa is the capital and largest city of Congo, with a population of about 17 million people.
