
To commemorate the 579th anniversary of the creation of the Korean alphabet (Hangeul) and the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Vietnam (1992-2025), on October 25th, at the Linh Xuan campus, the Korea Foundation (KF) and the Department of Korean Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, organized the Hangeul Festival 2025.
The event was organized in collaboration with the King Sejong Institute Foundation – Headquarters in Vietnam, King Sejong Institute Center Ho Chi Minh City 6, and the Information – Library – Museum Center.
The program, taking place from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Humanities Hall, Courtyard C, and Hall B4.1, is expected to attract over 2,000 attendees, including representatives from diplomatic agencies, businesses, leaders and lecturers from various schools, as well as students from 26 universities, colleges, vocational schools, and high schools in the South that offer Korean language and Korean studies programs.
The event was also attended by students from King Sejong Institute and a large number of Korean culture enthusiasts.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized: “Writing is the foundation of civilization and national identity. The creation of the Hangeul alphabet under King Sejong in 1446 was a great achievement, demonstrating a humanist spirit and the aspiration to bring knowledge to the entire population.”
Hangeul not only contributes to the advancement of Korean education and culture but has also become a heritage of humanity, having been inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World List.
According to Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh, the Hangeul Festival 2025 is an opportunity for students, trainees, and lecturers from schools in the southern region to interact, learn, enhance cultural understanding, and contribute to expanding the network of cooperation in Korean language and Korean studies training.
Dr. Dinh expressed his belief that the festival will continue to spread humanitarian values, becoming a bridge connecting Vietnamese educational institutions with Korean organizations and businesses, contributing to strengthening educational and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

In his congratulatory remarks, Mr. Kwon Tae Han, Acting Consul General of South Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his joy at celebrating Hangeul Day with Vietnamese students – a symbol of the profound creativity and humanistic spirit of the Korean people.
Mr. Kwon Tae Han highly appreciated the learning spirit and passion of Vietnamese students for the Korean language, seeing it as proof of the strong friendship between the two countries.
"I believe that every word and phrase of Korean you learn will become a bridge connecting Vietnam and Korea, helping the younger generations of both countries work together to build the future," Mr. Kwon Tae Han shared.

This year's festival consists of two parts: the Opening Ceremony and the Festival, with 7 competitions: K-Pose , Around Korea (booth decoration), Good Writing - Beautiful Hangeul , Reading Culture Ambassador , K-Pop Up (dancing competition), Quiz , and the Final Round of the Korean Studies Ambassador Search Competition .
In addition to the competitions, the program also features a series of unique cultural experiences, including Sejong Munhwa Academy classes, wearing hanbok , calligraphy, bookmark making, handicraft crafting, and traditional games.



The festival provides an opportunity for students from various schools to gain practical experience, hone their language skills, broaden their understanding of Korean culture, and showcase the dynamic, creative, and internationally integrated spirit of Vietnamese students.
This event contributes to affirming the prestige and pioneering role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM in training and research in Korean studies, while promoting cultural exchange, education, and people-to-people cooperation between Vietnam and Korea in the new era.
