In the women's 1,500m final, Bui Thi Ngan and Nguyen Khanh Linh were the two representatives from Vietnam competing. Both accelerated from the start, leaving their opponents far behind and turning the race into an internal battle.
Bui Thi Ngan made a strong breakthrough, crossing the finish line first to win the gold medal with a time of 4 minutes and 27 seconds, while Khanh Linh came second, winning the silver medal.

Earlier, Ho Trong Manh Hung won the gold medal in the men's triple jump with a performance of 16.33m. This was also the first gold medal for Vietnamese athletics at the 33rd SEA Games.
Besides the two gold medals, Vietnamese athletics also had Le Thi Cam Dung winning a bronze medal in the women's discus throw with a performance of 49.34m. Luong Duc Phuoc finished third, winning a bronze medal in the men's 1,500m race.
Meanwhile, in the women's 100m final, Ha Thi Thu did not finish in the top 3, while Hoang Du Y withdrew due to injury.
In another notable development at this year's SEA Games 33 athletics competition, the reigning champion in the women's 1,500m, Nguyen Thi Oanh, will not be defending her gold medal in this event. Instead, she will focus on the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m, and 10,000m races.
